Hi Olds guru guys, looking for some info please, I have just received a new gasket an seal set but I have no idea where these little cork pieces go. Any help appreciated. IMG_1743.JPG

Do I have to dig out the old one, I can’t see where there will be space for them to go otherwise?

Those oil seals will have to be tapped into the grooves as far as you can and then they will compress when you torque down the rear mail cap.. Definitely a tight fit !

Ok thanks, I’m tempted to keep them for next time as I didn’t have a leak, I removed the sump as it was dented and hitting something. It’s not difficult to remove just have to pull the starter and I have clearance all round.

Horse, just replace the old ones. You won't be sorry and it is not a big deal.

If you have the pan off, change those. They go on each side of the rear main cap & get squished when you install the oil pan.
