Does anyone know where I can get a relay for the convertible top for a 1955 Ford Fairlane Sunliner? I got a part number of FAB-15672-A from the Ford Electrical ***embly Manual, but can't find it anywhere after a web search. The part I took out doesn't have a part number on it, so I'm hoping that's the correct one. Is there a compatible part to replace that with? Any help will be thoroughly appreciated.
Awesome. I bought it. It's difficult in Alaska to find people that know about these cars. Thanks heaps, you're a life saver.
Before you buy, there's few things to check. Is your car still six volt? Do you have a three-wire or two-wire pump motor? Ford typically used a three-wire, but some aftermarket 6V replacement pumps were switched to two wire with a 'conversion' relay (if that's the case, try one of the aftermarket suppliers to see if they'll sell the relay separately). Does your factory service manual show a relay in the top pump wiring diagram? Ford used relays on some cars, but not all of them; it depends on the switch type used. They want big $$$ for NOS relays, you can duplicate it's function with a couple $10 off-t******lf relays IF your car has been converted to 12V.
That relay works different then modern relays, the top switch actually grounds the relay to activate it where modern top relays use electric to activate it. It works like a horn relay and you could probably use two 6 volt horn relays to replace it,there is no power going through the 55 top switch.
Thanks very much guys, I'll have to check on how many wires there are. If I remember correctly there's two in and two out. I've only owned the car for two years, and this is the first problem I've had with her, so my apologies for the lack of knowledge on it. Winter's are long here and she sits in the garage under her cover most of the year. On the good side of things, it appears to be the same box I purchased on eBay, albeit a whole heap less rusty. I'm thinking that since it's so rusty that may be a clue that will mean it's somewhat original parts. It's still the 6V positive ground system, and I really don't want to ruin a good thing even though it will probably cost more in the end. What a relief finding this web board. I spent most of the day combing through looking at pages upon pages of parts and called a bunch of places in the lower 48 trying to find this and it was getting frustrating. I can't say it enough, but thanks. If you're getting this on the 11th and are a Vet (so am I) thank you for your service and Happy Veterans Day.
You might also start a subscription to Hemmings Motor news. They are tuned more towards restorations than the HAMB’s hot rod and customs. They have loads of advertisers offering rebuild services and model specific junk yards etc. Don’t dispose of your old part just yet. It might be rebuildable then you would have a spare.

pay attention to the wire configuration as one side is up other down.looks very similar (if not the same)as power window and seat relay.there will be a circuit breaker somewhere.spray the scrws with pb or similar before undong the screws as it may only be the points need cleaning long shot butif you break the tabs off then it well be junk or at least a bigger job to repair.and as dos cincos suggested join jeffs site
