For Veteran's Day, one of the toughest! The photographer gets a hard look from Eddie Rickenbacker, as he and his mechanic prepare their Maxwell for the 1915 San Francisco Grand Prix. Despite the effort, Eddie fell out early. In a few months, Eddie would step out of race cars and into fighter aircraft, to become a WWI Ace, and earn the Medal of Honor. Later Eddie would purchase the Speedway from founder Carl Fisher, and see the track through some very difficult years.
Found another ad for a good deal I could not afford in 1965. I did try to buy a 68 Roadrunner $2895 finance 36 months 99/month but the insurance was 150/month as my driving record was already in the shiter, so that dream died. I missed the whole muscle car deal, not for price of car, the insurance was bad for me for many years due to my stupidity behind the wheel. Now the thought comes to mind, no insurance problems now, might trade my 51 Merc for a 60's early 70's muscle car or a C5-C6 Vette if the opportunity comes along. Never say Never.
