Congratulations, that’s sounds like a fun road trip. You plan 100’s of cars in your head, but you get plan on for real, a lot more exciting and expensive. Have fun with it.

Let's see, dumped in the front, black, tri-power, tonneau cover and 4 scavenger pipes out the back........ done!
A kid in my high school had one (1964), made a definite impression on me. I'll be following along.

Congrats! I have always loved those El Caminos! Back when I was in my first year of college, I worked at a body shop for a while and the main painter had a 60 that we moved around a lot. He typically poured lacquer thinner in the carburetor to start and move it...

And, lots of good guys up there in the Tulsa area as Duncan mentions. Who are you actually getting the cab from? Maybe Travis?

Hmm...I don’t think I know who that is. Need any other AD parts? I am just a couple more hours down the road and have a couple parts trucks... :D

Oh man! My dream car is a tri-five Handyman, which you already have. And now you've gone and bought a 60 El Camino, which is in my top five.

I offically hate you. You can have your damn cards and roses back! :D:D:D

When are you going to get your Hell Camino? Nothing like a road trip.
If you need help setting up the straight axle I have done dozen's of them.
With your new project will we still be able to squeeze the Comet in before spring ? I don't want you to have to commit to something that will put more stress on your time.

  16. Oh yeah man, I'll sit aside a week to do your car. Just give me a couple of weeks heads up! This el camino is a long term thing :D there's 11 customer cars here at the moment (insert the my *** is dragging emoji lol)

  17. We can fix that problem! Fly your hind end out here and bring me $12k :D:D:D

Always loved El Caminos! My favorite was a '70 with a 454. Damn thing would get stuck in frost...

  22. Lmao we got it running and seems like the trans was bad? Can't really remember now.

  23. Doing some reading and found that the 60 impala has a 64" wide rear end. Is there a go to replacement for these or are they able to hold up to some abuse?

I prefer the 59, but there are some really nice 60's running around here. Can't wait to follow your progress. Congrats....

This should help you pick out a replacement rear end

A ‘93–‘97 f body is pretty dang close. I a ‘95 rear out back I’ll double check. You’ll have to cut a bunch of stuff off, but should trip over them in pick and pull yards

These are x frame cars with coil springs. may be a little harder to find a rear axle. some later models had 12 bolt rears.

  29. I was wrong, i looked at this again and i had the wrong years. So apparently this is the same as the tri five? 60"? Screenshot_20201119-140854_Gallery.jpg
