I do not know the true track width but ballpark with the Dayton wheels should be no more than 8'. Tf you have a gooseneck trailer with the deck over the wheels you will be OK. With the wheels above the deck line you may be able to raise the wheels over the fenders, move it on forward and then let them back down. It would be more work that way but doable.
Yeh the trailer that fell thru was a deck over the wheels. I’ll get this ****er come hell or high water.
If you are planning on doing any hauling with the Old Girl, KEEP the air brakes. Hydraulic drum brakes from that era would be lucky to stop the empty truck, much less a loaded one. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
^^^^^^^^True. Even if you have to update the brakes. If you are going to haul any weight keep the air.
Got the truck today! Was about a 2-3 hour ordeal and two broken log chains but my pops and I are two hard headed Dutchmen so it was going to be on a trailer come hell or high water.
Did the front wheels fit between the trailer fenders or did you have to jump them over? Looks like a good score and glad you got it safely.
This picture is pretty kool except the sun was in the wrong place but if you look in the background you can see Devils tower Wyoming.
Beautiful area! Been through there many times myself, although always on two wheels. Wonderful picture of the tower behind you. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Here are a few pictures I took the other day of your cabover. Gotta love that GMC cast into the differential cover.
Is that a GMC engine, or did they use something from another division? Cool GMC valve covers. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
What a beautiful truck, good on you for recovering it... Sent from my SM-G955F using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Is it really a cab over or a short nose? Either way sweet score Sent from my SM-G965U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Nice score. I bet it runs but you are going to have to check that intake first. Take a shot of the brake backing plates, front and back. Then we can talk about air brakes. They stop real good if adjusted up correctly. Does it have a 2 speed axle?
Yes it has a two speed. Looks to have a five speed transmission also, at least the shift knob had a five speed pattern on it. I really haven’t had time to mess with it.
