In 1962 Ford built a very limited number of Galaxies that were lightweights with removable fiberglass hardtops(hardtop convertables)and they called them "Starlites". I use to have a photo of Fred Lorenzen driving one with the top off.I'll try to find that photo again.

Oops I was wrong, the cars were called "Starlifts",and were 1962 Galaxie Convertables with a "bolt on" Starliner roof.Lorenzen raced one event with a 62 Starlift with the top unbolted before NASCAR said no way.

  6. Hey Malcom!
Did you pick up some drunk hitchhikers along the highway or something?
That broad riding shotgun is really U-G-L-Y!
Your Ford is a purdy boss:cool: ride. You should be able to land a better lookin' passenger than that!
What is she doin' with those fingers anyway?

Stupid 14 inch wheels on front, 15 x 8.5 Hals on back. Louvers, smooth hood and deck, 390, it was neat, I miss it.

Kirk, congrats on the new ride - its awesome. I like the sound of your 'to do' list, here's an idea for the top. This car needs new wheels/tires but I love how he 'dropped' the whole top into the body of the car. This car was built by a local canadian guy but now it resides in california.

Well, it was either those drunk hitchhikers or the chick that I picked up in the Continental Club on Friday night (during the LSRU)... and she sure as hell wasn't comin' back to Omaha with me!! :D

Wow! I'd never seen or heard of a turbonique until now - google'd it and those guys were crazy.

There's a guy with two of them on a go-kart 0-150 in 4 seconds! Thanks for posting!

Enjoyed this post so much I just had to try to get it back to the top. I hope to include two shots of my 61 Starliner. Sometimes I run it dog dishes and other times with the americans. I like it either way just depends on mood and where I am going with it.

That was cool. TV used to be so much better! Now that commercial would have 3 "extreme" guys climbing a cliff then BASE jumping down to an "extreme" party at the bottom where other "extreme" guys were jumping dirtbikes off of the cars' hoods. I don't need the overstimulation. I like tasteful.

It's interesting that the Galaxie and Falcon were both 4-doors.

This is a photo-chop that Zumo did on my '63 Country Sedan. The stance is now there and working on the exhaust and interior now.

Hey everyone! I was led here by a fellow club member (Ford Galaxie Club of America). I've had a great time reading all the posts and pics of people's rides. It's been fun and interesting to read this thread. Well, I guess that leaves me to post a pic of one of my Gals. Will do it soon.
