I've started my truck project with Frank "gaspumper" and its taken us a while to get it this far. Hopefully I'll be able to post every week or so and show you some progress. We are in the middle of moving to PA and we'll be racing next week in Loring Maine.
Ill be looking for parts along the way also.
    Ok, back to work! IMG_20200824_155203687_MP.jpeg IMG_20200825_132305_581.jpeg IMG_20200825_125200909_MP.jpeg

Put the cross member for the rear shocks in this morning. Next will be the front shocks or drive shaft hoop.
But first we're taking a week of for racing. IMG_20200828_110132679_MP.jpeg IMG_20200828_110205921_MP.jpeg

I see the TA mount on the driver side of the rear, what did the rear end come out of?

Drilled out the spot welds and removed the seat riser. Anyone need one? IMG_20200910_163053322_MP.jpeg

Finally got the cab apart and set thw cowl on rhe frame. The master parts book really made the decision to do this easier. IMG_20200915_154849151_MP.jpeg IMG_20200915_154910846_MP.jpeg

Got the floor out of the cab and onto the frame. This will make it a lot easier to build the roll cage. The cab has wooden blocks for body mounts. IMG_20200918_133151_051.jpeg IMG_20200918_124244218_MP.jpeg

Used drag racing front runners are perfect for LSR racing. Cheap at the swap meets, low rolling resistance, they can handle high pressure, and come in lots of sizes from 23 t0 28 inches tall for ride height and gearing changes.

Sat the cab back on the frame. We put the main hoop in to see how it will fit. Soon it will go to Bob Dauernheim's. He will build the roll cage. IMG_20201109_151450282_HDR.jpeg

The side bellhousing/engine mounts look solid or rigid....gonna give you some nasty vibs and resonense unless I'm missing how the brackets are attached at the frame....Looks Great

We had a similar set up in the 57 Chevy with no issues. This is the same bell housing. What do you suggest?

The truck arrived at Bob Dauernheim's for the roll cage. Lots of discussion and planning going on here. IMG_20201111_134510306_HDR.jpeg IMG_20201111_104936252_HDR.jpeg IMG_20201111_102416487_HDR.jpeg

Having the truck at Bob Dauernheim's shop is great. He's such an artist with the metal work. He replaced a header panel that was rusted out and now we have a windshield that opens. The cab is laying on its back. Got some work done on the roll cage, too. More work on rhe roll cage. Looks like I can't use the original steering wheel. I was hoping I could. IMG_20201118_163405777_HDR.jpeg

Got a lot done today since we're taking the rest if the week off. Seat brackets, window net, and seat belt tabs. Did I tell you that the guy that built Bill Elliot's 200 mph NASCAR is building my roll cage?
