  1. Hi hardtimesaint, they are not exactly lying around, they come up occasionally on local eBay type sites, or if talking to people in the scene, definitely not cheap. Advantages are full pressure oil with insert bearings, balanced crank, rope type rear main seal. Some come from agri equipment and can have had a hard life, others from mobile pumps and generator sets, these can be in better

That's good news. Next time you have your floorboards up I'd really like to see the completed installation.

Picked up another one of those B blocks, May 18th 1936 casting date.. got this one real cheap. Its been pinned, 2 sleeves and decked to fix cracks along with 8 valve seats. Quality work, the sleeves are 'captured' ( sit on a ledge left at the bottom of the bore) and the pin work is first cl*** as far as I can tell. Work was done but not run, engine came without rods and slugs, figure whoever was building it got interrupted. Bore .060,crank .010.,checking by hand the endplay is good and the crank appears 'set'.. but trust no man :) Also got 2 wico magnetos in the deal, a nice model x and a JEM with a busted cap.. plus six boxes of tossed in ****ola, the cat just wanted the **** gone and his price reflected that sentiment.. had to wait till I got back in the truck to start giggling like a school girl..

-I got a whole trailer load of T parts last weekend. In-laws sold their folks' place and cleaned a barn out. I didn't catch wind of it soon enough to get a nearly complete rolling ch***is, but helped my speedster project along pretty good. I need a front axle and that's about it. Ended up with probably 40 fenders if anybody is looking for some. Found out two of us could carry a complete engine and trans 40 feet or so out to the trailer and load it. I don't think I would want to do that on a regular basis but we got it done. Pretty good day.

    F.A.S.T. and etc.
Seems to be some misunderstanding about the F.A.S.T. organization on this site. The F.A.S.T. group was the result of two , I believe members of the West Coast group For Ever Four club. their membership was limited, so two individuals Jim Briley and the late Dan Iandola formed a group that had similar racing interests. Both of which were involved with SOSS. Ron and Carol Mosher joined in later and when Jim retired, the Moshers had full responsibilities. Jim, Ron and Carol are personal friends and have thru the years dedicated themselves to the "movement", I personally don't believe that they have ever received the gra***ude due. Carol was the mover and shaker of the magazine production, Ron fielded the *****es, complaints and the insurance. All three had reached a point in life where they needed to move along, you all will get there sooner or later. No one stepped forward and they asked time and time again, so we are where we are today.

So just where are we today, Nor -Cal F.A.S.T. has for years a personal friend of mine Steve Straw, who has lead this group and I believe that with out him it would not exist today, he has volunteered at Bonneville for 18 years. There are several groups out there in the mid-west, a group in eastern Tenn, and the Eastern Timing ***oc., that I am aware of that have the same interests as you and I. If are interested contact Carol, don't tell her I told you, thank her and ask how you can contact these other groups I mentioned.

Hey guys and gals, its thanksgiving, lets be thank full for what we have, don't complain about what you may think we don't have1

  13. Friend of mine was selling one cheap and I p***ed on it as I was looking for another single downdraft and already had a dual that I'd never used.

Wasn't till he'd sold it that it occurred to me that I could have run the centre carb and blanked off the other two...

Not sure what I'm gonna do with it, already have a single downdraft intake for my Phaeton.
Or is this a perfect excuse to get another banger powered car?

    We'll see what happens.
I am on the hunt for a running and driving car for next summer, either something V8-powered or just maybe a full fendered Model A coupe or closed cab pickup. Just have to make up my mind.

You should check for seconds spare tire fender wells... they are not super cheap, but have a nice ridge and the drain hole can become headlight mounts.

At 205/55 I'm too wide to use a side mount cover. The trailer fender width is spot on,so is the arc..thinking about shooting them black then adding some aluminum half round, polished as a bead..or two .

I usually cut the side off and it fits pretty well, but I'm always a ****er for cycle fenders... that plan would look good too.

Hate to be the one to tell you this, but if the kids are eating the putty out of the windows and the electricity is being shut off you are a true racer..

  26. Vinyl windows fixed that, the electricity issue is something else.
Typical racer parks trailer close to the shop so the generator can be tied into the shop..........not the house.
