Customs Wow...ya never know what you’ll see driving around Detroit...anyone know this Kustom Merc

    8A1F6F7C-2D15-4C2A-A08B-490753C50566.jpeg 8BD29C2C-20E4-45AA-8668-6EB01731D3D6.jpeg 675BB244-306B-49E2-B4E1-885C0F5B2B17.jpeg DBB9D8F9-046A-422B-A2AF-30391DF38725.jpeg So took the Family Downtown for a day of fun..we get on the Freeway to head home and I see this...I about **** myself...I always say with the Automotive history in this town I know there are cars in garages and buildings..a guy I knew found a OT 70 Chevelle that was pretty rare, he did a rotisserie resto and sold it at Barrett Jackson..bought it from the original owner..she drove the car from 7 mile and Livernois to the GM Tech Center for work..it had all kinds of stuff piled around it..was a lot of work to get it out..but he did very well on his sale..so imagine when I see this on a flatbed..it was on the freeway in the exact spot the A Bros last shop was.....ironic..not sure..I was flipping out..killer mild Kustom Merc..nosed, decked, frenched, shaved, Kustom grill, Kustom Trim...my mind has been going all night....who built it...and where has it been all these years...anyone know anything about it...I’ll be pissed if it was heading for the junkyard that was in the area...

    Pretty cool Merc, never seen that one before. In the early eighties used to see an early 60’s Cadillac around 6 mile and Conant area that had fins shaved, weathered paint, never did find out the story behind that one.

    don't think I had ever seen 55 chev park lites on a Merc before... shoulda dropped the wife off and followed....

    Nope I-96 between Grand River and Greenfield..

    you would not drop your attractive Wife and attractive Daughters off in this area...most of you on this Forum wouldn’t want to drive your car into this area

    Yeah, odd choice. Looks to be 56 Chrysler Windsor grille bars? Spots, shaved door handles, possibly 50 Pontiac taillights. Running lights behind the quarter windows? Stainless side trim going in two directions on the quarters is a clash.
    Tires look new. Maybe the ch***is and drivetrain are done and it's being trailered to paint shop? Any renowned custom paint shops in that direction? Maybe check there.

    Yep! Bad area.... I cross my fingers (for luck) just taking Southfield to 8-mile east to Woodward Ave. for the "cruise" every year...:confused:

    Solid looking car that looks like it has always been kept indoors in a dry garage. I'd think late 50's build when those park lights and that grill were fairly new.

    Some one had the right Idea. Clean and simple. I would say probably a h.a.m.b fallower.
