I picked up these pedals recently and I want to rebuild one and run it on my roadster pickup. I know these were ran on everything from show cars to all out drag cars but I can’t find much information about these. I’m looking for old advertisements, articles, anyone who has experience running these, rebuilders, advice for rebuilding and possible part suppliers?

I thought they outlawed them in racing.

When the fluid (ATF) got warm to hot your rpm mysteriously went up.

I wonder why if that’s true

Thanks for the link and information Brent. I really dig your 60s model A. I’ve been following it for a while

Does anyone know anything about bleeding the system? anyone rebuilt them? Mine currently doesn’t work when I press down on it so I don’t believe there’s any fluid left in the line.

Maybe no return set-ups? Hydraulic systems don't leave you with any control after they fail.

    Thanks! I appreciate that!

I don't know about rebuilds. Out here we have hydraulic shops that build lines and rebuild all sorts of pistons and pumps. I am sure a place like that could point you in a helpful direction. However, with liability and such I doubt anyplace would do anything more than sell you parts.

It's a small hydraulic cylinder, actually two of them. Odds are solid any local shop worth 2c can rebuild them with stuff off the shelf. I would put something other than ATF in it. There are new synthetic fluids that are not as sensitive to water and heat.
Hell if you used EPDM seals you could run brake fluid.

Back in 1967 a friend had one on his ‘51 Ford coupe with a 327. He bought it from Moon but the hydraulic cylinders were made by Marbet. Totally unnecessary but it sure looked cool to a couple of 18 year olds.
