Spent the day filling holes on my firewall and now trying to figure out the ones needed for the emergency/hand brake. Does anyone have pictures on how the hand brake is bolted under the dash and how the cable is routed through the firewall? I got a hand brake for a 1940 but can’t figure out the mounting. Wondering if I’m missing additional brackets. Sent from my iPad using H.A.M.B.
Second pic shows the two mounting bolts to the right and slightly below the ID plate. The first pic is hard to make out but the other two mounting bolts are up next to the windshield which gets covered by the windshield trim. he cable routes through sharing the opening where the steering column goes.
Thanks for the pictures and comments. Totally the wrong hand brake. Looks like I’ll be shopping for a another one. Does the cable go through the firewall as well? Sent from my iPad using H.A.M.B.
A local member messaged me that had the correct part. Appreciate the help. Amazing how things bolt up when you have the right parts. lol Here’s the difference between the car and truck in case anyone needs a future reference. (Not too many photos of this online) Sent from my iPad using H.A.M.B.
Also On my '41 the cable goes through the bolt in panel around the steering column on the floor (upper left under carpet).
Thanks for the brake ID with the pic Thought that the car was the same, too. Guess I’ll be looking for one now. Anybody got one laying around?
Thanks for the photo. The plate that goes around my pedals had two notches. I’m guessing these would be for the e brake and speedometer? Sent from my iPad using H.A.M.B.
Yes, mine has the parking brake cable through the top left notch and the speedo going through the notch on the right.
