Fed Up with FedEx...Who do I call?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Curly, Jul 25, 2006.

  1. FedEx shipped a package to my house that was not mine. The address on the package was the same city as me and that was about the only thing that was close. The package was from LL Bean. My wife called fed-ex and told them they delivered it to the wrong address they sent someone out, picked it up and end of story...sort of.

I'm waiting for my new brake m/c and booster to get delivered and waiting and waiting. Call the vendor and he says it was delivered on the 20th (Same day as LL Bean). I tell him I have not received anything he gives me the tracking number and sure enough FedEx says it was dropped off at my door on the 20th. FedEx doesn't listen to a word I'm saying only that it was delivered.

I figure that if LL bean package was shipped here that maybe someone else has my package. FedEx says talk to the vendor. Vendor says it is FedEx's issue. I'm stuck in the middle out money, and no parts. I'm almost 99.9% sure that it is FedEx's issue but they refuse to help.

NOW WHAT!!!! Has anyone else gone through this? How'd you get it resolved? Does anyone have a contact in FedEx that can help out because the dumb *** at FedEx was ready to send out a courrier to pick up the LLBean package again!!!! I told her it had already been picked up and now want the correct package delivered to my house....but she has to find out where it is first. She told me it was delivered already...on the 20th. It was a frustrating "Who's on First" type of deal with this phone operator.

If you didn't sign for it, they have no proof that it was delivered to you. Having the LL Bean stuff...I'd call the person that was supposed to get that package and see if they have yours. Sometimes hurried drivers will drop a package off at random locations to get the heck home. I have had UPS do that to me, I live in a small town, so I have been called more than once by the wrong recipient of MY package. Once a package disappeared completly, a very expensive item was lost. In the end...you didn't sign.

yes, I'm fed up as well- I got a broken windshield delivered, and the company had to call FedEx 5 times just to get them to come inspect and pick up the windshield! I had to wait the whole time, and by the time it was picked up the windshield was out of stock again! Arghhhh
FedEx since they started doing ground is horrible. The ground wing is independent contractors, and they even have to pay their own gas. They try to undercut UPS, and don't give a damn about the delivery quality. FedEx express is decent.

The ground service was actually another company that was bought out by fedex. FedEx just used there trucks and business under their name. The shippers business was no better back then and hasn't seen much improvement since the buyout. The service is sub-par to say the least.
They will fight you because they do not want to spend money finding it. Track the package and find out who signed for it. If there was no singnature, they are responsible. If a sinature exists, find out who signed. Call fedex, have the vendor call fedex, and demand a resolution.
Dont use there services and request that your vendors use another shipping service.
    Good Luck!

UPS is a better Ground service. Air is a toss up.

Fed Ex is a pain in the ***. You get wrong delilveries and then don't get anything if you're not there to sign for it. UPS is alot better if you have a choice

Have to admit...I have better luck with FEDEX than UPS.

Never had an issue and shipped 100's of items.

Fed Ex is known for damaging packages. I know this from personal expierence as well. Once I had a package deliverd that was 4 days late. The whole time it said "on truck for delivery" You usually get it the same day it says that. When it did show up the package was taped shut and there was nothing inside it!!! I also shipped some stuff to a guy in Texas I'm from Cali. Half the parts were damaged when they got there....good thing I got insurance...

I've never had any problems with Fed-Ex Ground, either shipping or receiving. Can't say the same about UPS, which is why I'll NEVER again ship ANYTHING via UPS.

My only gripe with FedEX and UPS for that matter is these *******s either leave **** on my front step for the world to see or beat on my door, drop their **** and RUN to the truck. One of the last times I got a FedEX package, I was in the ba*****t when he beat on the door. I was expecting the package so I bolted to the door only to see him make the jump to the truck.

When they leave the **** on the step, out in the open, all the rednecks in the neighborhood now know that I got something new. God help me if I order from Jeg's or Summit with those well advertised boxes.

I've started leaving a BIG, and I mean 11"X17" sign on the door demanding deliveries must be signed for that the driver is to wait for said signature. The last driver, a FedEX guy, started giving me **** about waiting for me to come to the door and I reminded him that I was paying his salary and that he'd better cool his jets and that they weren't the only game in town. That seemed to work for now anyway. And when I'm not home and expecting something, I leave another big note telling them to deliver across the street to a neighbor's house. They really hate that, cuz it's like a whole other stop for them. But I still get my stuff and they get a signature.

Like the old Buick ad said, 'It's your money, demand better.'

  11. Well I talked to the MOD (Manager on Duty) at the last stop in the trail before my package got loaded on the truck and sent to my house. He says they have a record that shows that they delivered the wrong package (LL Bean) to my house and then picked it up and delivered it to the correct house. My wife initiated that one when the LL Bean package showed up with someone elses address on it.

But they have no record of delivering another package to the wrong house or anyone reporting a package misdelivered. So it seems as though I'm out of a package weighing 20 lbs. No records other than the tracking number for my package which somehow got mixed up with LL Beans package that ended up on my front doorstep.

At my old house I was concerned about theivery while I was not home but this house is totally diffferent. Dead end street, next to last house on the street, city police station is in my backyard, great neighbors that watch out for each other. Biggest Issue is that we have woods all around us and the deer eat everything in sight.

I'm wondering if my package ID got switched at some terminal (there were a couple) between Waterloo, IA and Mentor, OH

  12. I have used literally ALL the shippers ups /fedex/ DHS and thay ALL **** wrong pacages wrong addresses damage that they argue about , but what do you do? either don't ship or takke a chance pretty much seems a local thing some areas have good UPS, others(here) Fedex ,DHS ****s everywhere from what i have seen/heard, even greyhound has different rules for different parts of the country
best luck ? USPS but lately I have had a few packages kicked back opened w lost labels, nat security????????????

I ordered a new roller timing set for my 460 and fed ex delivered it. They didn't even knock on the door. They just threw it on the front step in the rain. By the time I noticed it on the step both boxes were completely soaked. I wasn't very happy about that.

I haven't had any issues with any UPS deliveries.

You just have to keep at it. And it is FedEx's fault but the shipper has to file the claim I believe. So if the vender is saying its not his problem he is half right. He does not need to pay you money for it (though he should make things right if he is reputable) and he does need to be the one to initiate the insurance claim (if I recall it should have asked the shipper for the value of the item when they generated the shipping label and that is the ammount you will get back). Go to fedex.com and you can initiate your claim. You should also get your shipping cost back. I had a problem with UPS like this. Now I will not ship UPS anymore. I cracked an exhaust manifold and heater control valve on Power Tour in Pensylvania. I ordered the parts the next day and paid for next day shipping with saturday delivery. I sent it to the hotel where i was staying and informed all 3 desk shifts about the delivery. The next day the UPS guy never even came by. This was a Hotel and Conference Center with a Restaurant! There were people to sign there and noone remembered a UPS guy. They claimed that delivery was attempted at 11:10. My friend who is a UPS driver says the saturday guys are partimers or private contractors so he probably went to the recieving door and got no answer so he took off or he didn't know where the place was so he just said he tried. There was no way to get redelivery. So after multiple angry phone calls I ended up driving to D.C. and getting on the Auto Train to get back to Fl.. I informed UPS that it needed to be delivered to my Florida address because I would not be in NJ on Mondy. Low and behold they delivered it to NJ.. They called me up to make sure I recieved it and I was so pissed. The guy didn't set up a call tag to fix the problem or anything. He told me to call the vendor like its my job to fix their mistakes. He wouldn't do it so I called the vendor and they set up a call tag. UPS only picked up 1 of the 2 boxes and shipped it to the vendor who in tern sent it to me. The other box is in limbo and so I had the
vendor initiate the claim. Now I am going just weld the break. I find that if you ask for a manager they usually just hang up on you but if you mention the Better Business Bureau they are usually required to escalate the call. Both of these shippers ****. I have not had a problem with DHL yet though.

Whatever happens I would be wary of that vendor if they would not help you recover the part of your money. Who is it if I may ask?

I've used FedEx and UPS without any big problems. I have more problems with USPS delivering to the wrong address than I've had with UPS and FedEx. The neighbors on the next block are always getting our mail. Several years ago I bought a new camera and I watched the tracking number and saw that it was delivered. It didn't come to my house, so I went over to the neighbors and there it was.

Talk about a pain in the ***!! I contacted the BBB on UPS, or FedEx...cannot remember which one as they both ****. Ive gotten miss-deliveries from both (Post Office too everytime regualr guy goes on vacation or get a new guy). Anyway, they require you to write the letter in triplicate or some such nonsense, send it to the Business and them and somewhere else if I remember correctly............basiaclly make it difficult enough to complain that it weeds out the petty complaints. They did say (I read it) that if they get three similar complaints on the same company, they are required to investigate.

For the mail services, Ive gotten packages delivered in my hands that the box was in perfect shape, to a package of Exhaust manifolds that the box was so beat up, it looked like something you would see Jim Carrey and David Spade Deliver in a Movie.

  20. FedEx Ground used to be RPS - Roadway Package Service.

I use them pretty regular, have yet to have a problem, I never really had a problem with UPS either - FedEx is just cheaper, and usually cheaper than postal. But I have been in a FedEx package terminal - I applied to work there once, years ago - and I pack the hell out of stuff. If it can't survive a 12 foot drop to the floor, forget it - some of the conveyors from the inbound docks to the outbound are that high off the floor. I also write the destination address in black marker on the box, because labels get torn off. Theft is pretty tough, at least at this terminal, you have to go in and out through a metal detector and past a guard and an ***load of cameras, but once out on the road a driver could probably nab stuff out of his own truck.

I use generic descriptions on parts ("antique auto part" "toy car" etc) too, I think it would be dumb to write "Stromberg 97 Carb core" on the label for everyone to know about - sort of like that big Summit or Jeg's logo on a box.

I just shipped a pair of '30 Packard gl*** headlight lenses - I set them in expandable foam insulation in a USPS box and packed that into another box with some padding so it could move around a little inside. We'll see how that works, it's about how I was shipping vintage household radios when I sold those now and then and they usually arrived intact and working. Should have shown up today, I'll send the guy a note later.

Oh yeah, both guys just drop and run, my dad had a package come when I happened to be there, saw the UPS guy coming, was going to the door, he was halfway to his truck before I got the door open, pretty sure he saw me coming, too.

  21. Remember guys a "proof of delivery signature" is NOT required by FedEx anymore, if you want that service you must have the shipper specify that when he ships.

FedEx is better than UPS though I have had terrible service with them, and USPS well dont get me started with them. I once ordered a skateboard and when it arrived the box was empty and there was a hole large enough to get the board out. The worst thing is USPS knew it, they put a sticker on the box stating that it arrived in SLC with no contents. what the ****?? If they knew that why the **** deliver it?, just find me that damn board.

Curly - we are one of FedEx's largest customers in Ohio, I have some contacts in Columbus if you need any more help they may be ones that can.

  22. yeah, some other good points here, pack that **** tight. RustyNY is right those things get smashed, dropped, thrown, whatever and they will stack them however with no regards as to what is in the box. Same goes with all other carriers. And labels fall off every damn day in my business. But if they didnt I wouldnt have found $40.00 Coker WWW at a local freight salvage place just my size and all 4. ha,ha

  23. Bought off of e-bay. Pay-Pal instant transfer...no credit card.

The vendor is Gearheads in Waterloo Iowa doing business as FatRodder. So far they are trying to help as much as they can from their end.

Both of us are waiting to hear from FedEx before either one of us initiate a claim. I talked to a manager and he is sending THE driver over that made the mistake. So far no show.

  24. Well, being in the logistics business for 35 plus years, I can tell you one thing and one thing only....your ****ed. FEDEX, UPS, Roadway, and all the other package delivery companies stopped having packages signed for years ago when they got legislation p***ed that says they don't have to. A simple drop at your door step is all that is required. If they show they dropped it at your door, and no one has called to say differently within 24 hours,,,,it' is considered delivered. Sorry, but it's a screwed up world.

  25. GOOD NEWS!!!!

I half ***ed remembered the name and part of the address on the LL Bean package misdelivered. I went into the local auditor's office and found a similar name and a similar address and it is one street away from mine. I called the manager at FedEx and said he may want to start there. On e hour later I get a call from the manager and was told my package was there. He also asked if I'd like to work for FedEx because he has never had someone go as far into looking for a package as I had ( I emailed him a satellite photo of said property) and I was one of the most patient people he has ever dealt with. Told me I made his job easy for him.

I went and picked up the package and the little old lady about fainted when I showed up wearing only a pair of shorts. I'm fat and HEAVILY TATTOO'd, full sleeves, full chest and full back. They are not the the most angelic pics either...hahaha. Here is the real pisser though....FedEx was on the phone with her looking for her LL Bean package that they misdelivered to my house last Thursday and picked up on Friday!!!!!

Lesson learned.....when something comes to my house addressed to someone else I'll try to deliver in person myself rather than go through the all the red tape.

    As a side note:

I've have had issues with every shipper I have ever used. UPS F'd up a 1928 Ford P'up door I bought. USPS lost a '63 Impala steering wheel I sold on ebay. I refunded the guy his money+shipping and a huge apology only to have it "delivered" to my door 3 months later!!!!

As far as the vendor I'm calling them and telling them what is going on. They are a small company doing huge business on ebay and the small staff is struggling to keep up. Their feedback numbers are tainted from what appears to be whiny people and "shipping issues". I'd use them again. If it wasn't for FedEx their delivry would have been spot on!!!!

Had a package arrive today via UPS and just caught the driver before he left. He wasn't going to deliver the package without a signature, which surprised me because I get stuff left all of the time. I asked why and he said the shipper wanted one, and I looked at the package and said no they didn't because I was the shipper. This was a package I sent to myself last week while I was on the east coast. The only thing that I could figure out was I bumped the insurance to over a $1000, maybe they felt more responsible and didn't want to chance delivering it to the wrong address.

  28. I have had a ton of problems with FedEx. A few months ago I sold a chrome strip on ebay for $300. I sent it through FedEx and thought that was the end of that.

Three weeks later the buyer emaile dme asking where his chorme piece was. So I contacted FedEx and they told me that the package had gotten to its desitnation but when they unloaded it, the package was empty and the chrome strip was gone.

They weren't even going to contact me about it...luckily the buyer said something.

But stupid me, I didn't think about extra insurance and they didn't ask (like USPS does). So I ended up having to pay the guy back for FedEx's fault.

    *******s.

You guys that are tossing out "Better Business Bureau"... you don't realize that all the BBB is, is an advertising medium. When a business "joins" (pays out a fee to the BBB), then they have the right to add the BBB's logo to their phone book ads in order to make people think they are a great business. that's about all it is!!! One good thing about the BBB is that when a business has too many complaints filed, then they get booted out of the BBB and they can't use the BBB logo in phone book ads anymore. But, whoopee.

Bottom line Fed-ex ****s............we use them at work and they can never, never deliver a package on time if the delivery date is Wednesday your lucky to have it by the weekend. No matter who you call it does no good, if you call the tracking number, always the same response. (Its in transit to zip code blank) Im fed-up with their ********............
