Should I rush your rush job or the rush job I was rushing when you rushed in?

upload_2020-12-18_22-37-6.jpeg This 55 was built by a good friend of mine who has since p***ed away. He p***ed it on to another friend who is the car's caretaker to this day. The car is a true time capsule as it still sports this paint after close to 60 years, and those Cragars. It's been detuned for the street, but still dangles not too bad.....

upload_2020-12-18_22-41-56.jpeg The truck I've owned since the mid 80's. Paint has been on it since 88. The only change is new shoes two years ago. I figured 30 years with the same tires was long enough...

Hope your pal reanimates that 150. Just about the most sought after tri 5 on the market today.

Sadly I don't think he will ever do anything with it, he has triple of every part needed to build it, one of those guys that when he spots a part better than what he has he buys it. So if he has an NOS fender if he sees on the box is slightly better he'd buy it even though the part itself is perfect.
I've spoke with him about getting it running the way it is and race in the 2 local nostalgia groups, he says no, that once you go fast you don't want to go slow (he has a blown big block altered he races). Then I said well how about getting it running and just enjoy the car and hit a few cruise nights with it, I told him it would get a lot of attention, his reply was no, that's not the look I want. He went on to say that he has in his will that all his cars will be crushed, why should someone else lowball my sister and enjoy the car for pennies on the dollar.
I really wouldn't put it past him to have that in a will either, I think he wants a car with fantastic paint, chrome and knows he can't achieve that level so he doesn't even want to try.

If he's not jerking your chain, then I'd say he's got other problems. I don't think any real car-guy is going 'take it with him to the grave'. Any reasonable person knows we can't have these forever and if it gave him any joy at all, then give another guy or gal that same chance. When his time comes, either someone will pay his sister the market value or she or her family will move it down the road for whatever price gets it out of their hair if it's something they want to make go away quickly. It's the way of the world.

Frankly, I find the scenery in front of the drag-car shown vastly more interesting...
