One of the few photos I have collected of the First Dragon Snake. This is page from Hot Rod Magazine's coverage of the 1963 NHRA Nationals at Indy. As you can see it is still in original red paint and stock trim. It was driven by Motor Trend Editor Jim Wright. After getting back to California after this event they really started working on it, HiPO Engine, Halibrands, slicks, cut fender wells, Viking Blue paint and Cobra text on the side as we all have seen it.

Alright Larry, here you go. Just for you buddy! LOL ...and a few other folks whom have been patiently waiting. Decided to store the Cobra for a few months until race and show season (if we have one this year). This opens the shop up for the 48 Thames Gasser project. Be before putting her to bed, we decided since it was such a nice day, we might just let here eat a bit!

After letting the car warm up good, I did several launches in the driveway. She is an RPM hog. After playing around quite a bit I finally decided she has to launch above 5 grand or things get ugly.

I worked with the line lock a bit but without a water box, the car just pushed the front runners up the driveway. So just to make sure we made Larry smile...we put some water down!

We certainly woke up the neighborhood! What a blast!

Sort of at the same time but Dad has had the van since I was born. It has been in sheds, barns and the back of shops for 50 plus years waiting its turn. It will also be a fairly quick turn around as I think we are leaving the old paint patina as is and the chassis is all but complete. I snagged it last year from an original Anglia Gasser that got an upgrade.

Lol James today it was 48 degrees! Now when I getup at 5 am to feed horses and then drive almost an hour to work it will be 7 degrees with a high of 14 !! So if you think I got cabin fever now , just Wait!! ;) lol . It is great to follow Randall's threads and witness the closeness that he and his dad have and how they work together. But that doesn't mean I won't give him a little good nature bullshit at times! lol Have a Happy Holiday everyone!!!! Larry

Well I got my confirmation yesterday for the Midway Drags Vintage Event at Ark City, KS in June. We are officially car number 10. I hear there are already nearly 100 entries and already a few other names you Meltdown Thread followers from the past might recognize. Jackson made it official last night, this is the event he has chosen to get the paint sucked off his Mopar by the Cobra...LMAO!
