Need more space under the dash. The 39 Ford cowl lever and mechanism use up a lot of space. Does anyone have any suggestions on modifying for a tighter smaller fit? Is there an after market kit? Thanks

  2. ......They make electric ones. It's kind of a street rod thing.

  3. When I installed a heat & air unit in my 1940 Ford sedan I unscrewed the handle and made a piece of piece of 3/4" angle iron and bolted it to the face of the mechanism, I was able to move the handle closer to the steering column approximately 8". HRP

Thank you for your suggestions. I cut the cowl vent handle and bent / welded a very old box end wrench to fit under a radio I'm installing.
