...well don't just leave us hangin' here Ron...spill...what's goin' on inside that monster, who built it, etc...
Last year I saw the Rolling Bones lost on the Northwest Tollway out of Chicago. You guys gonna have a different navigator this year ?
Did we really look lost or were we suffering from those lousey, screwed up tolls? Thats the worst section of road I've ever driven in my life. Stop and go, pay a toll, more stop and go, pay a toll, yada, yada, yada. There's talk we're going further south to avoid that mess this year.
Ron, Great news that the engine has arrived. Must be why ken has been hard to get a hold of the last few days. Those pictures get me more pumped up than I was. See you August 4th.
looks sweet guys! should be more fun than last years boat anchor! ill have to stop up and check it out next week.
let me know when you guys are coming past lincoln on i-80 id love to meet up with ya for a minute if ya got the time to spare. i tired running you down last year when you came blazing past but i was lacking the rocket i was told i would need to catch up with you as a trucker told me via my cb radio lol tim
Al, there was nothing wrong that engine last year. After all, it made it all the way there and back, plus it would cruise at 105/110 for a couple of hours at a time.
cool...now im starting to regret cancelling my room at the nugget. oh well gotta keep the family happy ya know.
you should be regrettin cancelling AL......just my 2 cents....you know me...hahaha, oh, and TIM....dunno if we're goin 80 all the way like last year..but we'll see.
One thing Ron forgot to mention....the thing will be running on alcohol, just like the crew. Right Paul?
speak for yourself dave....tough job being the non drinker...., but someone has to drive the cars...hahahaha
Good idea. I'd recommend taking I-71 south from Cleveland, OH to Columbus, OH. then head west to Indy on I-70. From Indy pick up I-74 west to Davenport, IA and I-80 which will get you to Salt Lake City. A few more miles but you can avoid that Chicago mess. I don't think there are any tolls on that route either.
Thanks Johnny, I'll forward that to Ken. That looked like a good alternative when I checked it on the map.
Larry, sorry to be evasive. The entire engine project is shrouded in secrecy. Dave and I haven't even told Ken what's going on. By the way that's not Smokey (he's dead) that's Clifford Wright, world renowned crossfire flathead builder. Regards, Ron
Renowned flathead builder indeed, his motor building skills are legendary around these parts, one of his flathead powered cars still holds the record for consecutive feature wins in one season at one of the area 1/2 mi. dirt tracks,17 if memory serves me. I don't know how many wins have been recorded with his engines but I know its an impressive number. He's no slouch with valve in head motors either. Good to see that he's still in the game. Oh by the way for those wondering whats inside the beast, I think seabeemc's post holds a clue (crossfire), I know that mr. wright is very fond of those 180 degree (flat) crankshafts, could there be one lurking in there? I'm guessing there is, along with about every other trick in the book. I have a feeling this thing might put up some good numbers.
Oh by the way for those wondering whats inside the beast, I think seabeemc's post holds a clue (crossfire) The HAMB is purported to be the haven for traditional Surprising how long it took for one of the traditionalists to recognize and address the crossfire issue. Hey, I also like this representation of the Nugget parking lot conversion better than the RJ#32 version. Regards, Ron
That crosse fire Flathead be 300 HP, Cliff wright engine builder , IT was built at the Rolling bones South shop in Coxsackie N.Y.
So are you going to drive out with a civilian engine powering the car and swap that weapon into it in the parking lot as you're bolting on all of the other race car accoutremonts? (cage, fire system, etc.)
