Kenny was a member since 2011, a great racer and person, he passed on Dec. 11th. I met him at the Fremont Drags around 1985. His Willys was an absolute "Show Stopper", and for a street legal car to be competitive in A/GS back then, was something. He was a quiet, unassuming, humble, and a great friend. He lived in the Seattle area, and always built and owned Impeccable cars ! R.I.P. Old Friend. https://obituaries.seattletimes.com/obituary/kenneth-mccandless-1081298468
We are here for a good time not a long time...so many have left us... Condolences to you, the Mccandless family and friends in the passing of Kenny...he obviously held the bar high in this hobby/career...may he Rest in Peace... Thank you for sharing this loss to the Community @Marty Strode Regards Stogy
Wow, I didn’t see that coming. I knew of Mr. McCandless when I was a kid ( young that is, pint sized) he had a candy red ‘41 Willys that ran eights on the track. He used to show up to the local cruise night and bench race with all the older hot rodders ( good times). His family will be in my prayers. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
He was my friend for many years, we only raced once & he beat me. he ALWAYS reminded me of that!! one of the best men i ever knew! Kudo would you get ahold of me please. THANKS Chris
R.I.P. sir. Did not personally know the man but acquaintances that did typically commented, "nice guy". Watched that beautiful red Willys run at Seattle several times, as Marty mentioned, "Impeccable". Condolences to friends and family. John
This video was shot by, one of Kenny's best friends, Kenny Kudo. It captures the feel for what it was like, running an A/GS back in the 80's. The cast of drivers includes Kenny McCandless, Tom Willford, Jack Coonrod, Wayne Harry, and others. Those were the days !
