I am trying to sell an after market trunk/ bumper/pickup bed from my 34 Chevy Master. It was made in 34 in Iowa. I have somebody interested but I think it’s a scam. I asked him to send me a pic of his car. At first he said it was a 34, now I get a pic he’s saying it’s a 35. The pic he sent me doesn’t look close to my car so I want to be able to call BS. However I cant find a picture of the back of a 35 master or standard. Can someone post a pic?
I has a 35 Chevy Coupe Master. Don't forget they made a Master and a Standard. My coupe had a rumble seat thus the trunk lid had hinges on the lower section.
I didn’t know they made that version. Since I posted he has come back with pics. It’s a 35 standard 2 door. Said he bought it back east 9 months ago and had it shipped to California. I am still very concerned it’s a scam but no money no parts. Thanks for the info
I’m confused. Are you trying to ensure you have the right stuff he needs, or? I don’t see the scam aspect yet, until his “shipper will pick it up and pay an extra xxx$ for your trouble”. can you elaborate a bit?
There are some design similarities in the 34 and 35 Chevy models. From your post, I am guessing you are selling a pickup box conversion that goes into a business coupe trunk. Pictures of what you have and what the buyer has would have been helpful to answer your questions. This option was available for a variety of car makers and some were probably were made by aftermarket companies. I had a friend who owned a Hudson Coupe with this option. Obviously there was a market for it and Chevy did reintroduced this concept in 1936 by offering their Standard Coupe Delivery which had the pickup bed, step pads on each end of the rear bumper and a front fender side mount spare. They continued this offering until 1942. Like others I am not sure of your concern that the buyer is running a scam. It is his responsibility to do the research to know if this is the purchase he wants to make. If you cannot meet in person there are other secure options available like PayPal. As long as the buyer can legitimately pay you only the agreed amount then once paid you can turn over the parts you are selling. Here are some later 30's images I had.
35 standard and master are very different. The 35 standard looks like a 34. The master is similar to a 36 chevy.
This is correct. In 34 the Standard series was a 3 window coupe. The Master series was mostly the 5 window but Chevy did a small run of a Master series Sport Coupe that was a 3 window. The 35 Standard Business Coupe would be closer in looks to your 34. Images show the back of a 34 Master 5 window and 3 window. The last image is a 35 Standard.
My best friend built this '35 Master Deluxe Coach. 350, 700-R, all Corvette Irs/Ifs. Outstanding road car.
