I know of a car that sat in a shop so long. The 4 flat tires were stuck to the floor. The car had to be broke loose with a couple floor jacks.
Its not a problem. Here is what you have to do; take a wire brush and clean up the rusted area near the missing legs of the stands then get some half inch rebar and fire up the wire machine with .035 wire. Weld the holy living chit out of the rebar/brushed legs. Use as much rebar as necessary until you are sure of the safety. Paint with rattle can epoxy appliance white and there you go... Near new and ready to use. P.S. Have wife look up insurance agents number if needed.
Wow Bob, since that project has been on that jack stand long enough to rust away, it may be time to sell it to the next younger guy who has a chance to finish it. We are all getting old, hell I will be 71 in January. At this age we need to take a good look at what our capabilities are and what we can realistically do now. Time to get rid of the someday projects, and finish the ones that we (at our older age ) can finish. You ar not alone in this. Brian
