Someone just informed me that buiding cafe bikes nowdays doesn't make them "true" cafe's because it's not the 50's, evlis is dead (yeah right!), and we're not in England. I offered up the idea that, like hot rods, building cafe's is just as valid now, and though times have changed, that people are still keeping alive the traditions, and ideas of cafe racing/hot rods. What are your thoughts?
I say it's only "dead" when people stop doing it, seeing it, feeling it, or believing it. Maybe you can ressurect them just to prove all those other people wrong. What do you care what others say or think? You might be surprised, you might start/continue a trend. Oh yeah ... Elvis aint dead. He just went home.
***emble 30 hot rod type guys and if you get the same opinions, thoughts, etc... then you've just been had by a focus group or some other mindless marketing scheme. Who gives a rip what they think? Does it really matter?
Oh, I don't care... but someone made a comment so it started a debate. I was just curious what you guys' thoughts were on the topic, since we're all into keeping alive the traditions of certain car cultures, which is obviously directly related to the same for bikes.
WoW sounds like your talking to a idoit ......hell i like "choppers& Bobjobs" & they died out in the 60s then again in late 70s but for some reason the 90s brought them back but to me they have allways lived & i like Cafe racers take a big old motor & toss it in a light weight frame for speed baby.....comes down to build what you like not what people other then you like I was riding a Honda ricerocket last month & it was fast handeled great & made me feel like a turd when i rode it .Was just not my style or tastes to say something is dead is sort of like saying punkrock died with SID in 79 or Choppers with Larry or fibergl*** cars with the BIG DADDY
You might want to ask about this at the Jockey Journal. I believe there are some cafe bike enthusiasts there. Most of the hot rod activity as I recall, centered around the drag strip. Lots of choppers with ape hangers ran down the quarter. Also all out drag bikes. So I'm curious when and where did they run the cafe bikes? The reason I ask is I don't recall many bikes with fairings at the strip, well, at least in my area.
I reckon my buddy John would disagree with who ever told you that, as he pulls his Triton out of the garage for a spin.
No, I'm just asking your opinions on the idea of keeping traditions alive in car/bike cultures by continuing to build with the same concepts. Not specifically about bikes.
Cafe race bikes i am thinking bout wernt made for a track but for the streets i saw a lot of them in AWOL a brit biker mag i used to get now i run drags only its how i like to ride but i have saw brothers on mine doing burn shows & wheeleys with big apes its again personaly choice & Cafe if you get up here check out Duluth harley davidson theres a Sprint Cafe racer up on disply & if you got time head over here & check out Dodges roof & rear for weather yours is a 3 or 5 window body
Oh, this guy I'm talking to would disagree. "Tritons are museum pieces" he says. lol I'll need to remind the 4 people I know who rider them daily that their bike is nothing more than a museum piece. haha Man... some peoples kids.
nice dude a new friend of mine has a 34 Ford coupe built in 60s 302 Z28 motor 2X4 bout 400HP primered purple big & littles in slots & everytime i tell him what a sweet car it is he says "its just a beat old hotrod "
