Get an email campaign going to LOWES corporate. REMIND them you car guys are also HOME FIXER-UPPERS and TOOL guys and some of their BEST customers. This worked with the Sears center for the local cruise-in in Milford, OH, I'm told. The local manager hates the car nights and said that they drove the customers away. CORPORATE reminded him that car guys ARE their customers.
The Lowes in Neunan GA HOSTS the event due to customer pressure and an astute local management.

IMAGE is everything. Make the local Lowes manager look like the bad guy and you won't have to move.

Come on now, doesn't everyone need a few drawer knobs? Ha Ha Ha
I've got 87 of them in my grille! I am going to ask Lowe's for a sponsorship next time. Ha Ha Ha

Now, now J1, you know the only reason you S. Austin guys don't go is you can't afford the gas to get there! :D But I do believe that S Austin would be more receptive to it.

I like the idea of a HAMB sponsored event. Might be a good way to "police" the riff raff. Does South Austin SS have a cruise night in their parking lot? Time to start one!!

I thought you ran the joint!

I was actually kidding. No way you could regulate who came in if it was a weekly thing.

  9. I sure hope a new location is found before Saturday night. Hopefully South!! It only takes a few show-offs to ruin a good thing. Keep us informed on where it moves to............

Never understood why there are no shows in Waco or Temple aimed at the Dallas and Austin crowds...

  12. Has anyone thought of the old Academy parking lot in south Austin? 183 and Mopac area. The parking lot off to the side should be large enough to have it. I doubt Sam's would mind since it is off to the side of their normal parking.

Even though I'm in IRAQ, I personally know the MANAGER at the Home Depot in College Station, Texas...She has a Mini Cooper with this cool Air Brush picture on it's top and seems to love cars of any type...I'll email her about being a sponser if you want me to. It has a very large parking lot and could accept a many classic cars, and next door within walking distance is the Texas Road House, Wings and More Sports Bar and the Famous Freebirds Eatery. I can see if my brother can work something out there. What do you think????:D

Sounds good to me, my brother lives in Collage Station. That city might be even better than Waco, seems pretty central to Houston, Austin, and Dallas.
For a local once a week hang in Austin I don't know. I lived in Austin for a time and I'm sure you guys will find a place.

    OK, I found a place.

Its at 183/McNeil. It was an Albertsons grocery store that went out of business. They left behind a huge parking lot. Across the street is a jackinthebox and the other side is a shortstop, mexican food and chinese food.

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble, but I work for a division of the "Orange Box", and I can assure you this is all about liability. Most of their P & P's are. I don't think it's coincidental that Cedar Park gathering had its plug pulled a week after it was featured in the local paper. I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't a corporate mandate coming straight from Paces Ferry Rd in Atlanta, Ga. after one of their Legal Department Associates came over it while combing the net for legitimate business news and developments.

THD is consistently slapped with lawsuits and there are departments in place to deal with and divert them full time. I don't know for sure, but I would assume Lowes, Walmart, etc. are going to have similar policies. The gathering at Albertsons in Oak Hill is so small that it probably flies under the radar, someone is turning their head, or someone simply doesn't know better. As soon as there is a vehicle related injury or worse, Tuner Tony and Muscle Mel aren't going to be the only ones named on the wrongful death suit. There pockets aren't that deep. Lawsuits are often settled to avoid increases in insurance premiums and I can only imagine what the premiums are for international conglomerates.

Certainly not defending or making excuses, it's just a fact that businesses and corporations can control what happens on their property. In my opinion, the best possibility to organize a "cruise night" would be to find an outlining community that has a main street area where the local Chamber of Commerce, and their merchants, could benefit fiscally. The cars stay on the municipal controlled streets and out of the parking lots and the mom and pop shops reap the reward....

I’m by no means and expert and don't want to be a Nay-sayer, but....

    "NAY"

Ok, I'm off the soapbox now, you can tell me to shut the fuck up....

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, I'll see you there as soon as I can get the electric fan installed in the 51...

    shut up...

Seriously, that is probably exactly what went down. Risk Management is big business these days. Sucks, but it's true.

183/McNeil sounds like a good spot. At least until something takes over that Albertson's.

Hey guys we have a cruise night every night here in IRAQ...Just one catch though......The I.E.D's are devastateing on the paint jobs and bad for the human body. Just have to drive fast and hope for the best here....Here are a couple picture from our last "Cruise Nite" here..:DOne of these I was in and made it out in one piece two months ago.

Sounds almost like "Buda-ful" downtown Buda to me... but it's nowhere south Dallas..erm, I mean, North Austin...

  23. Ok. So did anyone find a place for this Saturday night after all?

  24. If there's a Krogers nearby, try talking to them. We have one here in Houston every Sat. night at Krogers on Spring Cypress and Champions, and they're cool with it. There is a certain area that's coned off, and as long as we don't go beyond that into Kroger's parking, then they don't mind. It sounds like you guys do the same type thing there. Shawn

  25. Ok. Another Saturday night and never found out where everyone is hanging out now. Can someone help a brotha out??

Alright, sorry...I was sick. but I am better now.

I can't see any reason we can't do it here, the parking lot is big enough, (when it isn't full of my crap) I have the neccecary amount of trash cans, the 'hood is cool (the punk rock bar next door just closed down) and seeing as most of you are gonna be here for Damnedmk's benifit next friday anyway, I can't see where the problem would be. it oughta be a good time.

this saturday is out, but the saturday of the 12th is wide open.

    Lemme know what y'all think!
