One of the many builds I have been following that have influenced me is Harry A. Miller LLC built "Pleasure Line" car they are recreating. Back in the early 30's, Harry Miller Created an AWD V-16 road car. I think it was one of those cars that got lost to time, but the current company that bears his name is recreating it. Lots of inspirational details on this one.

Side shot shows it wasn't designed for a heavy driver.

Thanks! I didn't know someone was building a new version, looks like a very nice build. Bob

If you plan to cut up a '32 3Window, this Alfa could provide some inspiration.

That Stutz is a very nice car has the rare crank driven blower, once in the A.K.Miller collection in Vermont. Bob

If you are going to stretch the hood like any of the examples you mentioned, the Flathead Ford is going to look small in there. Since you will have the room I would do a crank driven supercharger like the Stutz. I believe the Rex Mays 34 three window had a Stutz supercharger mounted on a manifold. Unfortunately with his death in '49 the car never saw its full potential on the lake bed.

  10. If my memory serves me correctly, there has been at least one thread in the past about building a similar concept. I have no memory of who started it, but there were lots of inspiration pictures (nothing ever got built.)

The thought of a crank driven supercharger did come to mind, and am currently looking for options that don't necessitate buying one that belongs to a deep 6 figure classic lol. I do keep coming across this image online...It would fit the style of the car perfectly. not sure if stretching the hood is the way i want to go. Im going to try to keep the car as small as possible, while still having the classic pre war prportions. Like jaguar SS1 sized.

You could follow Harry Miller as Bob Weinberg did and put the blower in the back of the flathead. Saw the car at Pebble Beach 1999. Bob

Ah yes a pruned case GMC blower I think I have a few laying around one just might be available for a new home.
Crank drive and front cover mounting would be interesting to build and not impossible.

  15. If doing a crank driven blower and extending the hood what is the possibility of a Lincoln V12? More Cubic Inches.

From what I understand, the Lincoln V12 is much heavier than the v8, trying to keep the weight down to a minimum, while still maintaining decent power. I saw the rear mounted crank driven blower on the Miller pleasure car. I really like the idea, more so that the front mounted ones. Those pics are very cool. I just have no idea where to begin with such a setup. Ronnieroadster, I appreciate the offer, but I unfortunately dont have the cash at the moment for a blower. When I do, I shall give you a shout :)

I know of at least 2 people reproducing the miller style blower in this picture (loveless performance and uncommon engineering) I like the idea of the smaller footprint of this style blower opposed to a GMC or SCOT superchargers. Imagine one of these blowers mounted on the back side of a flathead... (Top pic is miller straight 8, the bottom pic is the flathead from the Miller-Ford FWD race car.)
