Bell- crank coil overs can be installed anywhere. Look at indy car suspension. You can lay them horizontally if you wish.

This is SO cool. I loved the Munsters when I was a kid. I remember watching it on the old black and white one evening and the Herman drag racing episode came on. WOW my favorite show with my favorite topic, Then they built a dragster!!! Couldn't get any better!! Sorry no technical help, but I want to encourage you on- a great idea!

I'm watching this thread closely! One of my favorite all time theme cars. In Pa. it would be a reach to get plates on.

At the end of the Munster TV series, they made a feature length movie, in color, which features Dragula doing a lot of road racing in Europe. I imagine many Hollywood liberties were taken, but in order to have productive filming days, it had to have had an adequate cooling system. A great must see film for Dragula fans.

ok guys I think I'm going to go elliptical rear suspension. Plans are to stack and weld a 2x2 tube on top of my 2x3 frame just above where the rear would go and notch it out for a 4" C for rear clearance....if that makes sense

If you didn't channel the body(?:D) quite so deep, you could probably find yourself another couple inches of top-to-bottom leg/body room. I don't think it would make a negative impact and you'd still preserve the look. Just a thought.

The sketch looks good, you’re on the right track.
Quarter elliptics work great, I had them at all four corners of my roadster. In front I deleted the shackles and used the spring as the lower bar of a 4 bar system. I used two stock Model A front springs, the ones everyone threw away when they bought new reversed eye springs. You can add and subtract leafs to get the ride. Speedway or Posies sells height adjustable brackets too I think.

If you have a little driveshaft, you need the suspension to stop both up and down travel, not the u-joints!

Ordered 1/4 Elliptics off speedway motors. What should I do as bars? 4 link with panhard, triangulated 4 link,...? What size tubing should I use with what heim joints/clevis?

You need an independent rear suspension. Marty suggested swing axles - a Mercedes low pivot swing axle from the fifties or sixties would be ideal and easy to install. They came with coil springs. The swing axle might not work well with drag slicks or wide tires. Or, there are a million japanese SUVs in junk yards with small, light IRS that would work fine in a light car. This gets around the problem of allowing rear axle to move up and down with no drive shaft. With IRS the differential is fixed to the frame.

Lay the radiator flat in front of the body, under the area where the Moon tank is on the original. Put perforated steel or mesh over it, with an electric fan blowing upward and it will cool fine.

Low pivot swing axle. They came in "finmobile" Mercedes sedans of the fifties and sixties. The middle, supplemental or camber compensator spring can be easily removed.
