I bought at set of original 37 Chevy bumpers, turns out they are the wrap around style bumpers. The bolt holes don’t line up with the brackets on my 37 Coupe. I’ve read that the wrap around bumpers only fit on the front for cars, is this true? Both bumpers seem similar in size, one looks like it has a little more curve than the other. The front looks closer than the rear, but I’d have to bend the brackets

The bracket looks correct, but the bumpers are not correct for the 37 passenger.

My 37 coupe had wrap around bumpers on both ends. You may have 38 bumper brackets. 38s did not wrap around

Unless this is a nut and bolt restoration, it doesn't look like anything a torch and a little fab work couldn't make fit?

A friend's '37 has the same style bumpers and I'm 95% sure they're original. Unfortunately, they're currently in storage along with the brackets. If you only need to bend them a little to make them fit, bend 'em!

The Deluxe and Master used different bumpers and brackets; Deluxe, GA models, had the curved section style while the Master, GB models, had the flat face style.

I think the solution is get a set of Master front bumper brackets.

Trucks used the same wrap around type front and back, and I believe the above post by proartguy is correct, the cheaper cars used the wrap arounds, the higher end used flat style bumpers. Straight axle verse knee-action cars.

I agree I think I can make the front brackets work with some heat, but the rear will be more difficult. I like the bumpers and they’re original GM bumpers too. I’d like to find a way to get the rear mounted. This is a rumble seat car, so the rear bumper needs to clear the spare tire..

Can you take a picture of the brackets?

Is your 37 a Master or a Master Deluxe?

My 37 is a Master Deluxe and does not have that style bumper. Mine are at the chrome shop, so can’t shoot a picture of them right now.

I had a 37 Master and have worked on many all the cars I worked on had a flat non wrap around bumper . I have been thinking all these years the wrap around were 36 and older . Again I don’t know for sure but some strap steel , welder and fab the extension you need .

What proartguy said, rumble seat (sport) coupes were only available as a Master Deluxe so if those brackets are original to the car you need the Master series brackets.

If you know of another set of ‘37 bumpers like the ones you show, I need them! I need a set of wrap around for a pickup.
