what cabs are the same as a 63??? is it just 61-63??? anyone got a nice solid one layin around??? my buddy needs one in a bad way and soon. the closer to Michigan the better... unless it's realy cheap so as to offset the cost of having it hauled here. what other parts interchange from different years??? just trying to get educated so i can help point him in the right direction. thanks Mike
64-66 have the flatter windshield while 60-63 have the wrap around. You might hit Stovebolt.com and check there. There is a guy who's handle is something like 60-66. My buddy Tom is in the middle of a 61 he could probably hook you up. PM me and I'll p*** on your email to him if you want. Has he looked for a grain truck or anything along those lines? I picked up a 2 ton 53 a few years ago for $200 in Blissfield, MI. Almost no rust. Drove it a few times to haul barn beams and doors then sold it for $300. There is a guy here with a gorgeous '65 that has a gravity box on the back. It is a 1 1/2 ton or so and is really cool. Fire engine red!
Theres no reason a later cab would not fit...unless he's dead set on the 60-63 style, just saying if a 64-66 cab comes up it mounts up pretty much the same, i'm pretty sure only the c-20's had goofy cab mounts. Have you checked the price difference in 60-63 windshield vs. 64-66...may be something to consider when cost in the long run is a factor. 60-63 - windshield gl*** shaded - $700 64-66 - windshield gl*** shaded - $179 Prices from the LMC truck catalogue.
An e-bay seller has the '60-'63 windshields for about $400, plus shipping. But the later flat windshields are still a lot cheaper. Obviously the doors are going to be different as well, and the dashboards are different, too. Fenders all the same. Grilles and core supports were different as well. '60-'62 ch***is totally different. -Brad
'60-3 Chevy cabs are the same as far as I know. Be aware that: --there are cabs with big back windows (desirable) and small back windows (poor visibility when driving, not nearly as desirable) -- GMC cabs would be the same on the OUTSIDE, but the dashes on the '60-3 GMC's have a single hump (as opposed to the double-hump dash of the '60-3 Chevy's or the no-hump dashes of the '64-6 Chevy's).
Yeah, 60 is the first year, not 61. You could use a GMC cab or one from a heavy truck (I got parts from a C-50 grain truck once, all the same ****) or you could convert to a 64-66 cab. If he wants to make a shortbox panel truck, I've got a body for one of those. I've also got a decent p***enger door for a 60-63 if you need one.
the truck he has is a big back window 63. it's pretty rough even though it's a Texas truck. apparently it sat near the ocean for a long time and the roof rusted roght off it. this let water get all inside of the body panels and everything rusted from the inside out. Enjenjo has a perfect set of doors for him but what he needs most is a cab.
My 61 "knee-knocker" as they are known has rot at the A pillar bend, The previous owner used white silicone caulk around the roof seam - drip rail. Not the best idea but it doesn't leak. My windshield looks like someone cleaned it with a SOS pad
