I don’t think I agree with you. The guy who owns this one has had it 76 years.... still only takes one kick.
I've been riding a '48 Harley panhead for many years and it starts with one kick - hot or cold- and idles. If they don't , there's something wrong with it! Back in the late '60s when so many guys were building choppers out of old Harleys, you know why they were always blipping the throttle ? because they wouldn't idle for more than a few seconds with out dyeing . Usually for the same reasons that made them hard to start.
I ride my old tank as much as I can . I’m the same way , cold a few “ strokes “ to get fuel into the cylinders , turn the ignition on and lay into it and she will rumble to the nice slow pace we all love to hear . When hot , turn the ignition on and climb aboard , lay into her and be sure to stroke all the way through , or you will be hobbling for a few days . If she don’t light , you didn’t talk nice to her and she is showing you no respect , you loose !
