What kind of paper work does a professional transporter need to get a car/truck across the Wa./Canada border? Thanks!

I have sold a couple of cars to guys north of the border. Each time I have to take the car to B'ham and drop it off. I guess it sits there or Blain while it clears customs or whatever, then the buyer can have it and take it across the border. I usually drive 'em up and take the Amtrak back home. Tip; always get a seat near the bar car.

I've had two cars shipped from US to Canada and the shipper sent me about 10 pages of paperwork to fill out. A big thing was a title with a matching serial number on the car.

Sent from my SM-A705W using The H.A.M.B. mobile app

  4. All paperwork needs to match the car. Make, model, serial etc.
Paperwork needs to be at the boarder 24 hours before the transport truck arrives.

it’s a fairly easy transaction as long as the paperwork is filled out correctly and the time line is correct.

there are plenty of companies that will handle this for you, paperwork and all.

we get a lot of equipment shipped from the usa and the only thing I can stress is the car you buy matches the paperwork.
We have had equipment turned around at the boarder due to the serial number being one digit different ( a 5 is an S for example)
BUT if you use a shipper that does the paperwork for you they are on the hook for this kind of stuff, just food for thought .

Shouldn’t the professional transporter know what is needed?

Assuming you are the seller, the buyer should make all the arrangements. I sold a few cars that went overseas, I didn’t do anything but hand the title over when they came by to load them
