Hot Rods The 55 Chevy 210 two door sedan

Had to pick "Hot Rods" for a topic choice but in my old age the unmolested gennie just says "I have so much potential".
Show us what ya had, what ya got, what a buddy has or had, or just what you're Jones'n for.
I'll get it started with a favorite of mine from one of our fellow HAMB'rs @alfin32
Such subtle mods yet this hot rod 55 really blows my dress up, I have even warmed up to the color.

 

Does it have to be a sedan ?

 

My thread title says so, not the sherrif here though.
As I stated, so much potential from lowly beginnings.

 

A couple of mine. I sold the 57 sedan delivery a couple of years ago but still have the 56. I have a 55 Chevy 2 door sedan, but I pro-streeted it back in the late 80's when it seemed like a good idea to do that. I still have it but it doesn't have that unmolested look.

Well, to show I'm flexable and acknowledging the significance of your HAMB moniker here is a pretty significant "150" sedan.

 

Love it already Butch, tell the guys that might not know what differentiates a Delray from a standard 210, love the waffle pattern interior on them, came close to getting a 56 many years ago from a guy at work.
Funny some say they were named after the Delray neighborhood of Detroit but most refer to Delray Beach F.L.A.

I have always liked two door sedans and specifically the 210 over hard tops. They just seem tougher to me and they are definitely lighter if a goal is going fast.

 

This is my 4th 210 Delray, bought the first one in '63.

Yes Denny, ever since I was in high school the '55 Delray was always the one I wanted. Very solid platform, adaptable to any small or big block Chevy engine and the vinyl interior. I'm fortunate in my old age to own my three favorite cars my '55 Delray, my '32 3W and '32 Roadster. Taken a lifetime to acquire them all. Hope you find the one for you, Ron

I’ve read this car drove NHRA officials crazy. They knew it was illegal, but couldn’t find it. To hide secrets, Jenkins later has car crushed.

1955 Delray, bought this one in 1959. Geeez...that's 62 years ago!!
Another one I should have kept!!!

 

Here's mine in the 80's; 427 L-88, Saginaw 4-speed that held up for years, 4.88 chunk.


Painted in the early 00's. PO hogged the rear wheel openings, not a fan. Bought the '55 Buick lenses from Gene Winfield at the Oakland Roadster Show mid 90's I think. View attachment 4947254

 

Is it just me, but L-88 and Saginaw should not be used in the same sentence!

One of the "older guys" meaning in his early 20's had a lowered and raked 55 2 door post that he cruised around town in when I was a sophomore in high school The thing was jet black lower in front than in the rear and had sneaker plugs behind the front wheels and small flames painted on the back bottom corner of the doors. He traded it into the local Chevy dealer on a split window Corvette sometime early in 63 and the car sat on the lot for a few weeks and then disappeared out of the area never to be seen again. That car has always stuck in my mind as the cool 55 Chev.

 

Like I said, "held up for years", lol. As long as there was tire spin. It eventually lunched and a rock crusher went in.

 

Wasn't much, only had about $35 in it. Never did anything to it and had to sell it when I left town and had too many cars to move. I hope someone made something out of it.

Funny how we are prisoners of our own mind.
When I was in high school some classmates were friends with a guy that was a bit of a local street racing legend, he had a 56 Delray that had a real 327/365 hp/ 4speed, green/ white.
Other than the American five spokes it looked stock but the thing could fly, at that point all I wanted was a 56 two-ten but ultimately bought a 57 BelAir 2 dr. ht. as my second car.
