I will shortly be reunited with a car my dad use to own... the car hasen't been touched in about 12 years. It's a 1941 Hudson w/ ford (351w) drive train. Anyone got some pics to get my mind going? The electric blue paint job has to go... it has fender skirts... I was thinking a suede blue w/ white scallops. Thanks!

Why not do it up like an old stock car? Check out places like the GOTRA (Good Old Time Racing ***ociation) site and see what some of the old coupes looked like for inspiration, as to colors.
    Just a thought.

  3. Was that your dads colours? Paint it the way dad had it,especially if he is still alive. If so take him for a blast into the past....

  4. '41 Hudsons were never much in the way of racers, I haven't even seen a shot of one cut down for the dirt tracks, although it's possible guys ran them with a Hudson 303 and twin carbs.

I'd like to see some shots too, I'd like to file some things away for the '42 Hudson coupe I found. The 40-47 share about the same basic body style -

  5. My '39 was ghost grey factory paint just waxed and striped. But that was about 35 years ago. it wasn't cool back then because hudsons were not hot rod material, but I loved the **** out of it.
If I had another one I'd do it the same way.

When I picked up the SD from Vance there was a guy at the gas station that showed me pics of his '41. He only wanted $2500 for it. The motor was blown. A total barn find. I should have got his number, that was one sweet car...

Here's what it looks like. The rear fender skirts are going back on. The wheels have to go. Not sure on if WWW are going on it? I need to go over the whole car. It's only been driven about 2500 miles in 11 years. Last year he put a whole 235 miles on the car. Then, in November the work begins.

If anyone has the photoshop urge, don't hold back. I aways enjoy other perpectives.

I like your idea about the suede blue and white scallops, but a darker shade of blue, like a navy blue, maybe even creme colored scallops.

I don't think it looks bad now if the paint is still decent. Change the wheels/tires, put the scallops right over the shiney paint. Gloss is the new primer you know. Get some chrome bumpers and a chrome grille and drive it!

  11. Now I beg to differ strongly on this one, and suggest you check out this site for some kick *** photos of early west coast stock car racing (NASCAR started stock cars? My *** they did!) & of Hudson's of all ages running strong...
