Technical What are these holes for?

I think the one above the shifter is for a rubber grommet (correct me if I’m wrong) but what is the one to the right or the shifter for? It would seem to be for transfer case shifter but I could be way wrong. Was going to make a patch for it but want to be sure I don’t need it first. I’ll be running g a flathead with a 39 3 speed. Thx

I looked up your profile & see you're working on a '41 pickup. It would have had the emergency brake under the left side of the dash. 1935-7 pickups had the handle mounted on the right side of the transmission. Looks like '35 and 41 trans covers are close.

 

Thanks for the info. Sorry, forgot to mention 41 pickup. Looks like one more hole to fill. Can’t wait to be finished with these floors and e brakes that seem to haunt me! lol Appreciate the help.

 

As you are going to fill the un needed hole , why not remove the un needed e brake mechanism hump on the right also ?

 

The 40-47 photos I’ve seen have the hump still, just no hole. I think I’ll just patch the hole and keep it easy. Good idea for a little more foot space.
