very kool!!! it would look good with a "brown neck bandito" or a "rodriguez" or even any kinda wacky Ed Roth type of hot rod frontend treatment...too kool..

Im with Mojo on this one. I expected to find some sort of htchet job monstrosity. But I was let down.
That car has some serious bad ass potential.

I was skeered too! This car is really promising, the nose treatment could kill it! Polock's sketch is the way I'd go (pure 60's show rod), you go too narrow and people will think you wanted an earlier car and just cut into this poor, defenseless ElKamino! I love what's happening so far!

Yeah guys, DocFrankenstien's truck was the original.

Plowboy's spacetruck came a few years later.

Not that it matters, both are very different....unique....and kick ass!

    This project rules.

I want to see more pics. Especially of the frame...

    Very cool!!!

    keep us updated.

I was thinking the only way the Elky could be better if it was a roadster. I was proven right! That thing is sweet!

  18. Doc, Very nice work. I see Fidgiter posted one of John Bell's drawings. Keith Weesner also did a sketch of an El Camino rod. They're both pictured in rolls & pleats magazine number 16, Nov 2004 - Jan 2005, if you need any more inspiration. I wondered when someone was going to attempt to build one. Please keep us posted!

Unique idea, nice execution. You could have easily created another hideous monstrosity that everyone laughs about. I'm looking forward to seeing more progress on this one.

The Doc was the origanal vector for the disease. I caught it from him in a sordid junkyard affair, even though we have never actually met. It must be a computer virus! Ha Ha Ha

I think that thing is going to be wicked.

My buddy chopped his 60 impala and managed not to cut the glass, but recessed it in down around the dash. You may want to look into that while you are slicing and dicing. I don't have any pics right now, I am at my buddy's house helping him out on his stude "coupester". Check those pics out on here doc.

    It sure looks cool.

My only question is how do you take 18" vertically out of wrap around glass front and rear?

The best part of the "who did it first" is the fact that both/all these guys are signing their own name to their own versions of a TRADITION of building "show rods" that have the stance of a rod but with the body panels and identity of "new cars".
It's seen in the already posted Ranchero but also in cars like the Cushenbery-built, "Car Craft Dream Rod" from around '63.
It's gets it's body panels from the '60 Pontiac.

how about a chopped down 58 edsel front end? keep the grille the way it is but section the headlights in a little bit ...that would have the 60's show car look...chrome bullets sticking out of the grille's...biggest silver flake you can get and freak drop the shit out of it!

Cant wait to see this one...What motor? Blown with stacks? Man im gettin a stiffy thinkin about it...Good job..Im diggin it!

FlyingPolock try a photochop of a 58 edsel front end if ya got some time...Im curious and havent got that good with Photo shop yet...

  28. honestly if you want my opinion..I think its freakin bitchin!
