Need some ***istance on my clutch setup. My fork has little room to travel back once it is touching the diaphram. When the fork is pushed back it barely moves the clutch diaphram. When the fork is centered in the window the throwout is a full inch away from the pressure plate.

I am looking for a longer pivot ball stud. I know there are a number of lengths. But I cannot find a part number or an application. My local parts stores are no help. I've saw one adjustable one at Summit, but it appears to only be about 1/4" longer.

Does anyone know of a part number or a source for the longer ones?

This is the fork position when touching the pressure plate.

Could it be you need a different throw out bearing?

Yes. That would work also. But I can only locate the standard size. I would need one an inch taller.
Bear in mind my search skills are not the best.

I recall there are 3 different lengths of Chevy TO bearings. Not sure of your TO being used, if you know then that may help in your search? Or maybe lead you in the right direction.

Whatever search engine you're using , search " Chevy throwout bearing sizes/ lengths"....
Then " Chevy clutch pivot ball options/ sizes"

    What style of pressure plate?
3 finger Borg & Beck, 3 finger Long style (Ford), flat finger diaphram, or bent finger diaphram?
That should narrow down the T/O bearing type, you can fine tune with the stud after that, if need be.

One other option I would suggest, is contact those who you bought your parts from and explain your issue to them. Most likely they will be able to tell you the solution

I’ve 4 different lengths of TO bearings in my stash. I also have 4-5 different forks. If you get a longer bearing you can add a lock washer under the pivot ball if it screws in from the inside. On one that screws in from the outside I’ve cut the ball off and actually drilled and threaded both ends for a shouldered stud. PITA but doable.

Memory seems that Speedway sells an adjustable length pivot ball. Used one on a Nailhead application.
