Hello, My dad had owned his 1953 Buick 4 door sedan for 3 years. So, my brother and I knew he was going to be in the market for a new car within one more year. Only if he stuck to his mantra of a new Buick every 4 years. Now, add in our mom who just happened to see an adverti*****t for a nice 1955 Buick convertible and wanted to go see one at the local Long Beach, CA Buick dealer near our house. My brother and I were all for owning a two door instead of those huge 4 door Buick sedans that our dad had bought since 1949. (A black Buick 4 door Roadmaster, and this current 1953 Roadmaster 4 door sedan.) So, in 1956, our dad took the whole family to the local Buick dealer to look at a 2 door sedan for a possible purchase. My brother and I were anxious at the possibility of getting a two door sedan. When our mom walked into the showroom, she went straight for a convertible with wire wheels. That was her choice of a family car. She did not drive as yet, but that was number 1 of her choices. Then, before the salesman came over, our dad rattled off 10 reasons why the convertible was a bad choice. Jnaki That trip will always be a memory that will last. My brother was on his first car buying mode and liked the way the rear wheel openings were round and not square. But, he told me later that he did not want to infringe on our dad’s Buick choices. So, he continued to look elsewhere. By the looks of your “inside of the garage” photo, it looks like you drove the wheels right off of the cool 56 Buick!!! Hopefully, you will refurbish those cool Skylark wire wheels. Have fun with the cool cruiser. Buicks will always be a part of our family car history through our dad.
