    I think Mark is correct, neither were traditional they were just hot rods.

    What you should think about is that there weren't any reproduction parts and very few aftermarket parts. Building cars was done by adapting and using what was available. There weren't many proven ways to increase hp and higher performance might only be a few hp. You didn't have to modify a car to be a hot rodder, you just had to have that urge to go faster than someone else......even if your car was stock. People have always bought stock vehicles and raced them. In the late sixties and seventies, racing stock vehicles hit it's zenith. People have always used performance as a factor in deciding what car they buy. They may modify it after someone beats them, but modifying a vehicle is not a requirement to having the hot rod gene in your DNA . People bought 32 Ford's or whatever because they were more powerful than their predecessors just like people bought Y blocks because they were faster than flatheads......then FE engines in Mustangs. All stock but still hot rods.
    In the early days people lightened the cars by removing fenders,or a lighter body. Exhaust technology was pretty unproven,carb tech wasn't much better. Lots of "innovations" were useless or even detrimental. So there were few proven paths to power but lots of experimentation. No computer modeling..........It was all greasy fingernail innovation. So I don't think a 28 Ford on a 32 ch***is is any more nostalgic than a stock 32 with a hot rodder behind the wheel..........and I don't think it's any less nostalgic either.:D

    I get what Mark said, i guess once i heard the statement on TV, it made me think along the lines of what was the more "popular" hot rod, a stock 32, or the body swapped model A. Kinda hard to get what i was thinking into words, momma says i have that issue, she also says I never listen, or something like that, not sure what she said :D:p

    My thinking too: 432 186 '32s (including Bs) v. 4 858 644 As. That's 11.24 times as many As as '32s/Bs.

    Couple things to remember. Media writers are selling a product , in order to better sell a product ,they have to be creative , Media writers have always been creative ( somewhat loose with their accounts of events)
    Keep in mind when some old fart ( like me ) tells a story , just like the " one that got away" , the story may be embellished , maybe a little , maybe a lot ......
