My car has a rumble seat, no seat just the lid. I have room for chairs, cooler, tools, also have my battery box IMG_1178.JPG IMG_0951.JPG in there.

 Aren’t you guys brilliant :p
About as brilliant as a burned out headlight.

Drinking and driving and seemingly being proud of it.

I agree. Riding in a rumble is neat experience not many get to experience.

My friends mom heard I bought a coupe with a rumble seat. She said she rode in one, when she was young. She broke her nose when the car stopped and she didn't.

Barry, from all I have read Brookville offers the rain gutters for the inside of the trunk foe using a rumble lid but I haven't seen where they offer the body as a standard package with one.

I would think you could special order a body with a rumble lid at a additional expense since they are built in house. HRP

I just converted my 36 roadster to a trunk. The rumble was a waste of space IMHO. A 36 roadster never came with a trunk, so it was a bit of a challenge to add the structure for the hinges the same as the coupes had. Also, I had to make the drip rail continuous around the opening.

Ya, riding in a rumble seat is worse than riding on a motorcycle. You guys are getting old. And I bet you never rode in the back of a pickup either.

IMG_0329.jpg IMG_4014.jpg I kept telling my wife I needed a 28 roadster like I had in high school. Although she never complains about my habit of wasting money on cars and boats, I could tell she wasn't enthused. That was until I showed her the picture of a Model A roadster with three kids in the RS. Her eyes lit up and she said "why don't we get one of those?" Many years later its probably the only one of my old cars she will keep when I'm gone, just so she can take the grand kids for rides. Is it safe? Hell no, but neither are the dirt bikes, horses and all the other stuff we grew up with. There is no problem with packing plenty of stuff for trips as long as you are willing to use gear bags instead of luggage. I've even hauled 12' 2x4's in the back and have no problem. Try that with your trunk.

If you don`t break a leg getting in and out of one, I think you will be all right.

I'm still putting a rumble lid in my roadster project. The body is channelled quite a bit over the frame and the gas tank is there so it's not like anyone can sit there. I just always thought they looked cool and as long as I can fit my cooler and lawn chair in I'm good. My cousin had a Model A with a rumble seat and it was always a blast riding in it. But I can truly understand why many guys aren't crazy about them.

Where are you going to put your mother-in-law if you remove the rumble seat?

With or without the rumble seats, these cars aren't practical for every-day use or for long trips, but one of my most memorable experiences was riding in a Deuce Coupe's rumble seat with my bride, from our wedding to the reception. It was a short ride, but one I'll never forget. It will have been 41 years ago in August.

A couple of things for me , my 3 W is a rumple , I’ll never change it . Is it practical no damn way . It’s a rust free body just as Henry sold it , I’ll never change mine . As far as riding the bikes in cold weather , I like HRP , have been so stupidly cold , I have honestly thought about sliding the ******* on the side to a stop and setting it a blasé for heat . My last ride like this , I remember thinking ain’t I really cool! Or should I say damn cold ! My body is busted from work and stupid , riding and kicking the old *******s to life for many many years in cold cold weather .

I have given some thought to doing away with the rumble seat in my 39. However, given the fact that it was the last year for the rumble seat in a Ford, and my grandkids keep talking about riding in it one of these days, I think I’m just gonna try to come up with a little better way to catch what runoff water I can and direct it out through a couple drains. I know a rumble seat is not practical, but I’m ok with that.

I sold this 1932 coupe back to 56Don and I believe he has converted it back to a trunk. HRP

My '29 Coupe has a rumble seat and a quick change rear. One year my poor brother had to ride an hour down the highway to a show in there. Between the wind, road noise and rear gear whine I think he was deaf by the time we got there.

Do you really believe I would drink and drive? And better yet, my wife would hold a bottle so I could pee? Perhaps living in the "Great White North" has frozen too many of your brain cells... to recognize something meant to be ridiculous/humorous.

It's just guys being smart ***'s. AS was my remark. I don't think any one on here would condon drinking alcohol and driving. My remark was reach back and grab a cold one, I didn't say anything about alcohol. I have not used alcohol for over 50 years but that does not stop me from making smart *** remarks. Hotrodjack33 did not mention alcohol either. You are the one that ***umed alcohol. Most every post on HAMB turns into a bunch of smart *** remarks at some time, Take a pill you will feel better in the morning. Oh by the way I'm not talking about Illegal drugs. Just my opinion.

Usually when guys say cold one they’re referring to beer.
Too many guys think nothing of downing a few beers and then driving.
In any case I feel great without pills or beer. :D

  26. Rumble seats are fine if you're traveling like a "Biker" , cloths on your back and then stop at a "Kmart" when you get there and buy what you need.
