So today was rear nerf bar day,was trying to figure on how to make support brackets that looked ok ,came up with tis to bolt up under the rear body lower flange 9036CB7E-C5C3-4318-8BD8-0E5B11409373.jpeg

and a bonus was my 3 1/2 year old granddaughter Giving me a hand ,,beats playing with dolls,,,
A friend who pretty slick at stainless welding made up the rear nerf bar out of stainless 1” tube and forming the bends to mirror the lower outer body radius’s B49C2101-CB12-4B27-834A-D8D5523D34F0.jpeg

cut and shaped the two brackets 045E7235-9416-4DB5-85B6-15964C4564E6.jpeg
    9CD3F3BE-B97B-42D2-9971-E6D919FE9CD0.jpeg

The nerf bar will sit off the body by 1/4” and will sit about 3/4” above the lower body edge,,
Still undecided on how to finish the 2 ends,,,rounded, tapered,
    , ,I need to have a look at a few examples 9DD5F171-D493-4D1F-95A3-5CFB4D71FDBB.jpeg

    Looks good !
Advantage with stainless steel is that you can polish it up really nicely to look like chrome, yet cheaper.
Are you going to metal polish the brackets or paint them ?

    Hi Clem,
I’m going to polish the brackets and tube ,,,then coat it in Sharkhide Metal Protectant,,I’ve used this on a lot of alloy and stainless parts and it seems to work great

Been really busy on outside house projects with spring and daylight savings started,,
Finally finished the rear nerf bar, with the help of a buddy finishing the fab and welding,

l have been driving the shit out of the car,In the rain and at night as well,
I’m really happy with steering, braking, handling ,lights ,wipers etc ,and general performance ,I reckon I might have another go at trying to get the rear suspension riding a little bit softer,
I don’t want to compromise the ride height ,so will need to think things through before ripping another leaf out,,,,,,,I’ve had a few passengers ride with me and they all say it’s not to bad, an that they have ridden in model A’s a lot worse,
Our New Zealand roads are not that flash in comparison to the freeways I’ve driven in USA,,with main our state highway 1 ,resembling a back country road that’s had little maintenance in 20 years,, B55B2DD9-9A67-47FF-9ABB-9FFF1BDD97A6.jpeg
All buffed an polished 9E6C3F15-34F8-48CD-BBD1-F78B65EBA379.jpeg Final fitting, pretty happy with the result 10623FAA-3B09-40C9-8A6F-3CEEA3BBAA2D.jpeg

Great build and thread. You’ve given me a lot of good ideas for my future build. Glad you’re having a ball driving it.

Thanks for the compliment,it’s a great feeling to build a hotrod over a period of time, doing what you can yourself, asking mates to help out when there’s something your unsure of how to go about it,Finding info on sites like this, then seeing the project Finally come together ,and then be able use the car to enter into drags, shows, cruises, even go get the groceries,
And the biggest bonus is meeting all the like minded people along the way ,,

...It's a little weird seeing an almost normal car show...I know your Country has excelled in nailing that 'C' Thing and that is certainly something to celebrate...Good on NZ...have fun ya'll...;)
