Hello Trying to weld some br*** on AC on the tig Miller machine, just wondering can it be done in DC? Thank you Chasmatik Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
That welding machine looks more like something you'd see in a hospital ICU. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.
i was at the welding store yesterday, miller dealer. i looked at the new fangled tig machines, starting at about 2 grand, and going to 4 grand. my machine is a 90's vintage " dial arc Hf". i asked the man if the new **** really makes a nicer arc with the inverter tech, he said, no, your 40 year old machine will out last the new **** and work just as good. sorry, not trying to steal the topic, but it was just yesterday... so i spit it out
Times have changed My first Miller wire feed I changed the taps and set the speed and? something else. Next one MM35 just the taps and wire feed. My Vintage has dial lever. I’d imagine Heli Arc machines have evolved way past that stuff now.
the millermatic 35 was and is one of the best wire welders ever made. i had one, upped to a millermatic 200 for a little more power, miller forum folks say thats the best wire feed ever made. the engineers in the old days had no one holding them back to make it cheaper. later...as with all our stuff...profit is mo better than a good product
I hear ya. I still have and use my 35. I took it to my dad, pretty soon he basically told me I needed to get a new welder. Lol. He was was stick welder up until then. So, we went shopping when AirGas had a sale going on. They had the newer wire feeds a 205? Something like that. I ran some beads, seemed like a real hard arc. After talking to the Miller Rep for a bit, he took me over and I ran the Vintage. So about 2k later I had the Vintage and a spool gun, lots of wire. The Vintage was a 90’s version of the older stuff, no electronics to burn out, etc. but easier to use. Edit. I think the Vintage was basically a newer 200
