How'd it go? Anyone snap any pictures? Anyone meet my old man? Anyone fall down in the parking lot??? Details man, details!
I was there. Good show. I took a bunch of pics but I haven't resized then yet. I saw a few HAMBer's cars and lots of customs. Last year there were museum pieces. This year there was different stuff. It was, warm, around 500 cars, good way to spend some time. There was some talk about the friday drags. Sounds like the drags were better than last year.
The drags were cool. Here's what I put in another post about it. It was hand flagged 1/8 mile on part of an old runway. Rocky Sr. was the starter and they has some folks on either side at the 1/8 mile with flags so the spectators could tell who won. No timers. Not sure how many laps I put down. I tried an old set of M&H hard slicks I had decorating my basement thinking they's go up in smoke. They actually worked pretty good on the concrete. Gonna have to drag them to the HAMB drags and see how they work for real. BTW, did anybody get any pictures of the 4/71 blower setup in this car? http://public.fotki.com/DJY/26th_annual_kkoa/im001300.html It was an old Cragar v-belt drive. Looked to be the complete setup right down to the rear bearing cover and the little front tri plate on the oem cover.
Here's a photo from the KKOA event last year - same car though. If I remember correctly, it was just a blower case - not functional (still very cool!!). Someone please correct me if I am wrong. Not sure if all the carbs were functional either. Malcolm
Hot and Dusty! Good place with all the shade. Here is a link to some of my pictures. I will add more later. Dennis http://public.fotki.com/Chopp47/kkoa_leadsled_spect/
Thanks Malcolm. Just what I was looking for. Empty case or not I'd been wanting to see one of those drive setups in person and was pretty pissed at myself for not having a camera. I've got an old Kenz & Leslie catalog with that drive but the pictures are pretty small. If anybody else has other pics of a drive like this, bring 'em on.
Hey Socal, nice pic's. It really hurt not going this year. That satin copper deuce sedan is one of my all time favorite cars. Any mention of where it will be next year ? Thanks Gary
They announced on Sunday that it'll be there again next year July 27-29. I heard one of them say they were trying to sign a five year deal with the city to rent out the park.
I saw ya crusing around Saturday and looked for ya. My A D D would kick in and I would start looking at all of the Kustoms, and I would forget what I was doing. Man did I have fun.......... See ya at the Drags.... Happy Trails, Mick
Can someone give me some info on the orange custom. Thats one of my scoops on it.I'd like to know more about the car.
I understand completely. At least twice I was standing right beside some friends and I didn't even notice 'em. I was soaking up the car I was looking at.
Yes. Mike Kuhl saved the day for me and got them back and completly rebuilt, and polished the best one with the Cragar covers and drive. The engine is about complete and the custom blower manifold is being mocked up.
Cool...The first pic on the link Socal posted is my old wagon I built and just sold last week. I'm glad teh car made the trip...even if it was without me!
