Hey guys I’m working on my 56 Chevy truck and I’m going to use the stock gauges. I have a 69 mustang fuel tank in the frame what do I need to do to have my fuel gauge read correctly? ☺️
Seems I once saw an ad for fuel sender adapter plates. Or just whip your own adapter up using some aluminum.
Rework the sending unit, use the wiper, arm, float and body from the Ford unit and the windings from the stock GM unit. Just make sure you have the correct reading on full and empty with a ohm meter. Or you can send it to a gauge shop to set it up that way.
this vs this. Have fun. I'd put a 56 Chevy pickup tank in the cab, instead. Like I've had in my 59 pickup for decades.
Or get it from the source https://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/...t_id=748/category_id=184/mode=prod/prd748.htm
Funny I was on their site looking for a cross over sending unit. Never knew those even existed so didn't even think to look for a magic box. The things they come up with to fix after thoughts.
squirrel I have to agree with you about the tank inside vs out. A good vented og tank works great while a tank at the very end of the truck not so much. Tom
Some whine about the intrusion of electronics, but there is some cool stuff out there... Slick gizmo!
now I know, thanks. Amazing what a little processing power can do, eh? too bad we can't see what kind of chip runs this thing...
Damn, there's a few companies that make their own. Speedway uses dip switches, Tanks, Autometer and Cl***ic Instruments you have to program it (Tanks being the most complicated but still not hard).
With the Tanks Inc module you can use a Low ohms to High ohms sender with a High ohms to Low ohms gauge as well . So you could use a GM 65-89 sender with a early Ford gauge.
