Technical Carter YF

First up, used the search button, read through a bunch of threads, watched the Mike’s Carb videos, can’t seem to find the answer. I’m in the middle of rebuilding my carb and unsure about something. Is this ball supposed to be there? The other side is clear.

Thanks, want to put this thing back together and not have to pull it back apart.

 

A bit more information would have been helpful (like the carburetor identification number!).

It appears that may be the vacuum passage which would provide vacuum for the automatic choke housing on a carburetor with automatic choke. If so, it would have been plugged on a carburetor with manual choke.

Sorry, didn’t /don’t have the carb on hand. It does have a manual choke, so seems your on the right track. Thanks again.
