AJ Foyt next to a Sheraton Thompson Midget at Ascot. Marv Edwards Hollywood Spring Kurtis midget. Edwards would paint his car to replicate his driver's USAC Championship car this being 1965 and Foyt being the driver thus the Sheraton-Thompson livery.
Tulsa had a drive in named Angels back in the late 50s that had those AC tubes that would go into your car just like those. My parents would go there and I would be in the back seat just like that kid,I was always afraid some of my friends would see me because that where all the old people would go,you know they were in there late 30s.
I was a mechanic fresh out of HS , these were coming in used . 1000-1200 all day long . They were tough build cars . Most I saw were elcheapos , rubber mat on the floor , thinnest bench seat I have ever seen a car . I always got handed the work orders to replace the clutch , tune up , rebuild the carb . Most were 383 Super Command , 4 speed , 3.73 Dana 60 . That Dana 60 fit in my 427 Fairlane like it was made for it .
