    I got this old motor in a deal, and I need to know exactly what it is. It is an early sbc I know but some of the different internet sites have told me different stories. The block casting number is 3849852, the head casting number is 3795896 and the aluminum GM intake casting number is 3844461, the ID number on the front p***enger side of the motor is F1123JO. Can you guys tell me exactly what I have, year and model of car it came out of, and the value? THANKS GUYS

    ...My book shows the block #3849852 as a 1958-1967 283ci....heads #3795896 as 1962-1967 283/327...intake manifold #3844461 is a 1964 Corvette 327/365hp. The motor is not worth much, but that intake(if it's in really good condition) will bring $200-$300. Post pics of the intake...:D

    REcheck the engine suffix code like squirrel said there is no jo code . most codes are 8 letters & numbers not 7 . Agreat site for checking suffix codes is www.nastyz28.com hope this helps.

    the 1969 and older codes are 7 digit, 1970 and newer are 8 digit (they went to a 3 letter suffix)

    JQ suffix code:

    [SIZE=-1]1964[/SIZE] [SIZE=-1]JQ[/SIZE] [SIZE=-1]327 [/SIZE] [SIZE=-1]man trans.[/SIZE]
    [SIZE=-1]250[/SIZE] [SIZE=-1]4[/SIZE] [SIZE=-1]Chevelle[/SIZE]

    seeing how the casting number show's it as a 283 I would guess it's not a JQ. JG and JD are a 283.
