Depends on what you are using to view them. If it is on a PC you should see them. The method I use to post doesn't work with all equipment, like phones?
If you really look at '50s car advertising, you will notice, practically all lowered the car before pictures. Compare the wheel well to tire distance in an ad versus an ordinary photo you can easily see it. I think this contributes to the longer look. In the ad drawings the car is almost always elongated as well. Just my $.02
I do believe that man is shifting a Duplex transmission. A fair amount of skill involved in maneuvering through the gears but a real test was the Triplex - three levers! I never drove a Triplex but I had a friend years ago that could jockey his way through one of them like a warm knife through butter.

Automotive music through the years. Philco 920 from the 1930's Motorola from the same time period Then in the 1950's there were record players................. The upgrade from records was to 8 track tape...................I guess it was a upgrade most of mine eat the tapes. Then the Cassette tape deck my wife did nothing but complain when her 2000 Buick didn't have one, now she doesn't understand why she can't get a CD player in any new car she's looking at..................
I drove a mack triplex for awhile when I was young, lots of short gears, lots of shifting, behind a thermodine engine. The main was slow shifting and long, the auxiliaries were very fast and short.
I drove wife’s cousins Mack Thermodine from Leemore Ca to Kingsburg Ca with a 53’ moving van trailer must be at least 30+ years ago with just a 5 speed. I had a class 1 at the time and when he found out he let me drive..Never shifted the dam thing. Weirdest combo I ever drove..
