  1. Them old racers are something else for sure. Wonder why so many of them wore a tie behind the wheel ? Were they gentlemen in those days ??

That is incredible, I love these old machines! What these gentlemen built back then was just unbelievable, they where and always will be the real hot rodders! When we build our cars and say we built them from scratch we had something to start with and at least to a certain point it had been done in some way or a nother and we have some where to get information like here on the HAMB, but these guys, damn, talk about building some thing from scratch!
Thank you for posting this it made my day!!!

When men were men, engines were art, and race cars had no front brakes...

the old mechanical brakes were not worth a quiet fart for stopping. The people that drove them were amazing or crazy or both . LOL

this is a neat old race car.

I like the part where the driver was cussing the officals out and they did not know it..... too funny

34GAZ, until about the '40s all the men wore white shirts and ties to work, even farmers. I have some factory footage from the Dodge Brothers factory, taken in the late teens. Imagine 10,000 workers with white shirts, ties, and pin striped pants running lathes, pouring castings, and assembleing engines. Killer video, '37!!

Ok, so I don't have the url thingie worked out, but if you go to
    http://photobucket.com/albums/g162/a1930ford
you should be able to see the secondary album there that is titled
Old race car pictures. It is at the top left section of the page. Hit on it and the pics should show for the old race cars. I have posted around 30 or so old race car pics; mostly from the 20-30's. I could not resist the racer and the Amish wagon though. Any rate, over the years I have copied, scanned, stolen, hacked or what ever it took to come up with a good collection of old motorists and race cars. The ones I pictured in previous posts here were just a few, and the ones at this album are only a few more. Somewhere on a disc, I have literally hundreds more of these interesting photos. It is a step back in time, but even Henry Ford is shown here in his race car. Much different and much more dangerous than NASCAR of today. It was a time when this was a spectator sport deluxe for sure. The fellows raced, mechaniced and probably built their own cars. Some of the cars are just amazing to look at and to imagine the size and power. Hope the album downloads. Please enjoy the pictures there.
