I wish the moderators would have warned the posters first and deleted the posts rather than the whole thread. It is a very informative technical thread and has been a help to many on this site.

Not a problem. Too much of a good resource to have closed. Also, had a lot to do with respect for @Flat Ernie .
Don't know him personally, but he (and others) put a lot of effort into the article for our benefit.

I am still hoping this will happen. Then I would be more than happy for this one to disappear..........:)

Wow, serendipity tonight! I'm thinking of going t5 for the "Whatever" project, and was going to be asking questions soon, but that answers all of them for me. And it was painless. Now if I can just find them in my area...

My humble apologies for engaging in that debacle.

Had I any notion it would turn out that way, I would have kept my mouth shut.

I will do so in the future.

    I am sorry.

Not you, dude. I've learned & unlearned plenty from you.

That other guy .. .. not so much. Him loves himself a bit much. Or him gonna' cry, cry & chuck his crayons.

Pretty sure that clown has two HAMB accounts. One being --> Cowtown Speed Shop , the other being --> Hotrodlane

Both hanging the Cowtown Speed Shop banner, both argumentive, bottom lip out, spiteful posting.

Hey guys, it's been a tough 12 months for us all. Maybe it's time to try an arm around the shoulder in support instead of hands around the throat in anger. I don't know..................it might just work...............;)

Time to move on. There has been one apology. Give it time, we may get another.

I'll p*** on the delete ****on, Ray. There will be no back & forth here, nor name calling. No bottom lip out pouting, and claims of knowing it all .. and keyboard warrioring .. .. but you do you.

I'm 49 years old, not 6. Have a great day.

To continue on the tech side of things, I'm still not certain that there was a WC T5 behind the Camaro 2.8s, which, if so, would be a replacement for my NWC trans without a clutch change, if I'm understanding what was said. The online lists do show a couple, 1352-177 and 197.

Your post is both funny and confusing as it sounds like a 6 year old wrote it instead of a 49 year old. And calling me a Clown sure sounds like Name calling too me! But I am ok with keyboard tough guys calling me whatever you want. Anyhow I guess it is my fault that the original thread was closed and for that I am Sorry, That for sure was not my intent. I was simply trying to clear up confusion in that thread. I talked to Ernie a few times early on when the thread was first created and gave him my input (based on my hands on experience) on T5's. I did not refer to a GM issued laptop as some apparently do. Ernie done a ton of research before combining everything into this thread, However From some of his earlier post on T5's it was clear to me that he had not had a lot of personal experience with them. As far as my comments to "gimpyshotrods". I was out of line! and for that I am truly sorry, It stemmed from frustration due to customers telling me they got their info from Ernie's Thread and they had wasted money buying the wrong T5 for what they needed. All I was doing was trying to clear up some of the wrong info in that thread. And there is a lot of wrong and confusing info in there. gimpyshotrods response to my post sounded to me like something the kid behind the counter at autozone would say. It was not adding value to the thread, Only causing more confusion! As I said in my original post, I do not know everything! But from going back and reading some of Gimpyshothods post on that thread it is clear He nor his GM issued Laptop does either. As Post#478 is incorrect as not all mustang T5's were world cl*** as he says they were. The 1984 mustang T5's were Non world cl***. And in post #501 he tells Big deuce That s10's with the muncie bell pattern were Non world cl***. That is not correct either as 1993 2.8 S10 had that same bell pattern but was in fact worldcl***. Bottomline is regardless of what anyone else thinks, I am here to help anyone who wants to run a T5 and get their project going. The T5 is a great transmission and can be used in just about anything under 400HP and it will breath a whole new life into a flathead forsure.

I see this one getting closed too.......if you don’t want to see someones posts because you don’t agree with them simply select ignore and **** the world is saved. Trying too hard to one up someone you don’t even know seems like a waste of time to me.

Yeah, I give up. I tried to save it all from going to hell in a handbasket, but sometimes you just can't win.:(
Was hoping the original thread would be cleaned up and unlocked, and then this one deleted.
At least we know who is probably to blame........................o_O

    One last try.
Hey @Moriarity , how about it. The 'ultimate t5 article' thread is a wealth of info for hambers. Please tidy up the end and unlock it so it can live on, then delete this woeful attempt at a continuation. Don't let a couple of stupid comments ruin it for the rest of us. 99.9999% of us did nothing wrong.

12 years ago I bought a V8 Camaro T5 to use in my 37 Chevy tuck with a GMC 302...I replaced the
synchro blocker rings, a few bearings and adjusted the bearing preloads..5th gear ratio was something like .62 and I felt a .72 ratio was better so I changed it....
A moderately built 302 makes more Hp and more torque than flathead street engines. I dove it about 8000 miles, then sold it to a guy on this site who ran it 80,000 miles with no ****** problems..Of interest is GM never used the T5 with the 4.3 S10's. Supposedly they had too many warranty claims with the T5 in the 4.3 Astro van.

You sir are completely Right! This was a complete waste of my time, I will ask Moriarity to delete all my post in this thread and the other one. I have nothing to gain here trying to help people who refuse help. Bottomline is None of you know how much info was contributed from me to Ernie creating his "Ultimate T5 Article" When he first started putting this together it was all over the place his main focus was wanting to use a Jeep T5 with a closed drive line. CrazyDaddyo was the first guy to do that and also was the first guy to do it with the S10 4x4 transmissions. Anyhow Ernie started learning all he could on the T5 and before putting together all the info in to one thread he had several threads that contained good and bad info. Bottomline is regardless of what anyone thinks, No Article can be Ultimate if it has incorrect info in it! I do not know where Ernie has been, I hope he is well but incorrect T5 info has been posted to his thread and that is like "rewriting history" Which seems to be the Popular thing to do these days! Anyhow I am not trying to be Popular with you guys, I really do not care what you think of me, I will always say it like it is even if you don't like or agree with it.

^^^ And that approach has acheived what ???

The whole original thread is shut down and unavailable for HAMB members to ask questions and receive guidance.
I wonder how the OP (Ernie), and all the other contributors feel about that. All because some couldn't pull their heads in. Not really a great result....................:(

I don’t think your t5 thread will be resurrected anymore than the ultimate s-10 or dakota frame threads because they are not traditional.....the mods saw an opportunity and ran with it as is their right, the Boss still runs this joint and he wants traditional 3 and 4 speeds with period correct ODs not modern 5 speeds out of camaros, mustangs, and S-10s. I myself will be either installing a 6 speed tremec or a automatic OD in my next car because I like getting more than 10 mpg.

As a relative newb, I was wondering what all the fuss was about, but as @Frankie47 mentions above, I now can see why the thread on T5’s was locked because of it being considered non-traditional, but the reality is that there are plenty of folks using this trans (including myself) in what would otherwise be cl***ified as “traditional”, so is this one of those “gray” areas?

The T5 trans being considered non traditional has had nothing to do with the previous thread being locked. But if you'll go back to the start of this thread and read it carefully, I think you'll see evidence of why it got locked and this one is in danger of the same thanks to the same person.
