In 1968 I owned a 1940 Chev coupe and the 6 cyl. cracked one winter. Always planned an engine swap, and when the neighbor rolled his '59 Imperial I bought it for $150, and dropped the 413, torqueflite, and rear axle in my coupe.
My dad was an electrician, and he brought home a piece of EMT tubing large enough to fit the push****on shifter into. It was a 45 degree bend, and I split one end to make four ears to bolt to the floor. Other end got a mounting plate welded to it to bolt the push****on plate to. It looked great, and worked even better!

Could have been me..... I mounted micro switches behind the push ****ons. Once you convert the push ****on to a electrical switch, there are numerous options..... none cheap.....to shift the transmission. I recommend power control solutions but any company dealing with handicap vehicle controls usually has a control box/shifter that will shift the transmission to the selected gear from a electrical switch.
