Just like the ***le says, I'm looking for some information on this car. It was built in the early '50's by Tony and Joe Pisano (their version of it appears in the first two shots...no skirts, louvered hood, smoothed/molded rear gravel pan but not front, '55 Buick caps). Then Herb Ogden bought it and had it freshened up at Barris Kustom. At this point it supposedly appeared in some magazines. Barry Mazza found it in D.C. in the early 80's, restored and made his own period correct changes (skirts, molded front gravel pan, lost fender guards, added sombreros, etc.) and now it belongs to Kurt McCormick (who brought it to Pebble Beach last year, as seen in the last photo). I'm interested in any photos of this car from the Pisano/Ogden era (and ESPECIALLY in any articles or copies of magazines that anyone has...scans or to buy the actual magazine). I'd also love to see any detail shots anyone might have of the gravel pans and the headlight/front sheet metal treatment. Last thing...can anyone identify the bumper guards? I'm not building a clone...but there are some ideas on this car that I really love. Thanks! Curt
Ahhh, note the '56 Buick Roadmaster flipper hubcars. One of the sweetest wheelcovers for a custom ever. IMHO
Curt, Herb ogden Lives in VA, and a friend of mine who lives in VA talks to him on a regular basis. In fact, Herb gave me a set of Appleton 112's for my car. I'll PM you my friends email, and he can get you in touch with Herb Ogden (who I believe does not have email).
The bumper guards are Chevy 1949 or 50 I can't remeber for sure. The front ones are sectioned a few inchs.
Curt, I dont think the two first photo's you show are the Pisano version. The 55 Buick hubcaps tell me those photo's where taken in 1955 or later. The car was then already owned by Herb Ogden And Barris had already performed work on it (at least paint but perhaps more than that.) Unfortunately I dont have any photo's of it when it was just built by The Pisano brothers. But I think they would have used skirts with it back then. I know there is at least one photo of how it looked then, but unfortunately I have no other info how it looked on that photo. Below is another 41 buick from a Don Montgomery book that was built by Joe Pisan. Cadillac Grille in this one, and the dust on teh rear fender tell me this one is running fender skirts on the road, and they where removed to race on the lakes. I hope you find some more inof on the Buick when it was owned by the Pisano brothers.. and if you do please share it here on the hamb. Some more of the Buick When Herb Ogden owned it (all from the Barry Mazza colection)
hey... got some on my gl***top right now b/c it's the sweetest custom on my street. btw: the only difference between the '55 and '56 flipper is how it mounts from the back, unlike the non-flippers.
