Hot Rods Help Me Find Dad's Bucket-T

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Dan Hay, Mar 1, 2021.

  1. The amazing thread where the guy is looking for his grandpa's old Watson painted 32 coupe inspired me. Check it out here: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/new-member-searching-for-grandfathers-old-ride.1221892/

So, I'd like to find my dad's T-Bucket. He owned it from 1974- early 2000's. It was sold as a roller in the Phoenix, AZ area. Dad passed away so I don't know who bought it or where it went. It was sold with lots of cool parts, as dad was rebuilding it.

    It had:
    Magnesium Halibrand sprints
A quick change center section with Jaguar suspension
    Schroeder Steering box
    Knock off steering wheel.
350/350 Turbo, not sure if it had a blower with it or not.

Glass body on frame NOT channeled. It had an opening passenger door.

These parts above are not in the pictures here... all this parts were added after he tore it down for the rebuild. This pic is of my parents in 1975 cruising the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

I'm not sure I can buy it back, but I'd like to know what happened to it. Thanks HAMB.

It didn’t have the blower with it. I think it went down by Yuma or maybe Tucson . The paint was the same with the gold leaf still on it.

Hahaha.. yep. When we lived in Des Moines, dad stored it in our walk out basement during the winter. This is when it had the 4 cam Ford Indy Motor.

I was over there once as a young kid and remember how cool it was to have a hot rod inside the house. And all the models along the shelf. For some reason I think your Dad gave me a Model T Coupe model.
I hope you find the T-Bucket!

  7. Good luck Dan! I can see why you would like to find it. That was a neat car and the textbook picture of a 70’s build at least in the pic you posted first. Praying you can track it down.

That's far out man...what year was the living room pics...that's reaching back to the 60s...These are proof Leave it to Beaver had many facades...:p...This seems more common than one would think...better climate control for the vehicle and no Bitchen about the oil smell...

As a kid Dan tell us you did sit in it and went for a race, motor sounds included...:D

I was in that rumpus room too. I bet the year was late 70's or very early 80's.

  11. This was early 80’s. Oh heck yeah, I spent lots of time behind the wheel in that basement making motor noises!

I was showing these pics to Ted Lesher tonight and he reminded me that Bill Lewis was run over by that car. He still has the T-shirt hanging in his garage with tire tracks over the back.

Story goes that Bill was sitting on the rear tire and your dad reached in to start it to show someone and there either wasn’t a neutral safety or it didn’t work anyways the car run over Bill.

  14. After it ran them both over the car drove into the garage and smashed the front fender on Willie’s 31 Chevy. They still left for the nationals the next day.
