I'm afraid that QC and my bank account are just not ever going to be compatible. However, pix when done will be appreciated by all.
F-1 and F-100 backing plates are the same. The hubs are different, with the F-100 having 7/16" less offset. The drums are also different for that reason.
Anyone recognize the backing plates on Joe Wilhelm's "Wild Dream"? This says '58 Buick but they're not. I have '58 Buick.
'39-'41 backing plates; being they are wide fives; probably '39. Probably made that trailer out of a '39 front axle.
I just picked up two frames with full suspensions. I was told one was 39 and one was 37....... any help confirming what I actually have would helpful.
These are wilson welding finned backing plates. I have been told that they use Buick guts but I cannot confirm that.
I've been thinking a lot about backing plates lately. I don't need to find/buy any or sell any; just doing a lot of thinking. Anyone got more pix they can throw up here along with pertinent information?
One of the many reasons I've been pondering this lately. I think these are 40 Lincoln backing plates with holes and SS screens; anyone confirm this? Whatever they are they are just WAY cool. I probably got this pic form the hamb sometime back in the past. Belong to any of you?
I guess I can't pin down the year range; but I've cut a few of them apart getting 45 fin drums off '63 & '64 Buicks. There are three bolts, the top one goes in hole by the anchor pin and screws into the upright; that is the one causes trouble when the drum is stuck.
