I still think it's a shame that the Welsh car wasn't restored to it's original colour but it does look good in purple.
OMG, I'd drive right off that cliff if I encountered those three well known Mercs out prowling around.
Staleto, one beautiful mercury!!! You can tell he drives it too! Little snippet of the article. “The goal was long, low, and ***y,” Rick explained, “The roof would have to be chopped 4 inches in the front and 4 1/2 inches in the back, the body channeled and stretched a full 8 inches, then bagged, nosed, and decked. I had to find ’51 Merc sheet metal for the side panels. To get the right look, we handcrafted lake pipes with cut outs. I wanted stainless accents from a ’58 Olds and a ’55 Pontiac. The skirts were handcrafted to fit, and we shaved the door handles and installed remote poppers.”
I agree. When you own a historical kustom you almost have to restore it back to fame. She is kool wearing the purple. Funny reply. I was leaving a show and saw Kurt McCormick driving the Ogden Buick. Almost drive my Merc into the ditch. The guys in front of me were doing the same thing.
And Kurt drives his cars. He was taking a different car to CCR each year and I had the pleasure of driving with Kurt and Amy to CCR 2019 in the 41 Cadillac Custom. Also got to see his whole collection back in 2018. He is currently thinning out the herd and will only keep a couple of cars.
Very interesting hardtop conversion above, does the vent wing stay attached to the roof when the door opens? I'd like to see how that works. This is one of the most attractive hardtop Merc rooflines I've seen. It looks like maybe the roof is de-crowned, or maybe what used to be the door tops have been thinned out below the drip rail. I'm not sure what was done here or how, but I like the looks of it, and I'm typically not a fan of hardtop'd Mercs.
